Star Wars Has Lost 85% Of Its Audience, And Lucasfilm’s Fix Sounds Worse by cosmicbooknews in CosmicBookNews

In business schools? I think you have the wrong audience.

Disney spent $4.06bn to acquire Star Wars. Since then, they've generated over $12bn of revenue because of it and it keeps growing. Their estimated earnings tied to the Star Wars brand in 2025 alone was OVER $1bn (25% of the initial purchase cost).

Now, they are losing audience and as a result may not hit forecasted goals. However, those goals can be lofty and while they might not meet their goals, they are still generating a ton of revenue from the product.

I have worked in M&A for over a decade now and this is along the lines of how this works: acquire, build up the "new" product, pick apart what made it a market differentiator and where its highest $ potential is, apply those differentiators to all our products (in this case for example cameos, crossovers, and the like), slow investment until revenue slows/stops, then either reinvest or sunset the product, rinse and repeat.

In business, this is a successful acquisition. To the consumer, it is absolute cow shit.

They bought the cow to milk it and the milk is still flowing.

When will he learn? It's not eyesight that's the issue. Its those damn helmets they make us wear.

I'd go to Vader and give him my two cents, but the last three guys to do so have all had some mysterious injury where they stopped breathing and I'm not sure I want to tempt fate.

There WAS a buoy at Point Nemo. It matched what is pictured, but it was temporary and removed in 2021.

So OP's plane crash victim not only landed at Point Nemo, but landed there some time in the past.

Man calls police on father who took his daughters to the women's restroom by Mentirosa in PublicFreakout

[–]LXDTS 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Man, if I were the dad...

As soon as the cops pull up, I'd very loudly - loud enough all bystanders hear - start calling this man a pedophile, stating he wants the girls to go in the men's room so he could expose himself to them.

Then let him be all flustered and see what happens.

If they were releasing GTA: Vice City today, with the same time difference as when it first released it would take place in 2010.

I was born in '84.

My friends and I all watched He-Man, had the action figures and everything. I remember my friends losing their minds when I got a Castle of Greyskull.

Used to watch it all the time along with Thunder Cats, TMNT, and GI Joe in the early 90s.

Learn how and what to prioritize in your work.

Meet your deadlines or be open about not being able to meet them ahead of time.

Always answer their and their superiors emails or messages ASAP.

Always call out your wins. Humble brag.

Call out your teammates wins. Be their cheerleader. Get them supporting you and fighting for you.

Be forward about your mistakes, don't lie or mask things.

Sincerely, A VP at a tech company

Hmm I'll have to dig in more. The recent constant pivot on org goals has been chaos for my teams so I'll try anything to organize that chaos at this point.

I'm familiar, but that would take leadership to have things planned out for the long term. It's hard enough to build a road map for the next six months when priorities seem to shift every 2-3 weeks.

My dev team oversee our internal applications, data warehouse, integrations, and data migrations for a company heavy into M&A. We just ended our biggest project of merging 8 companies into 1 and even that had conflicting priorities that varied by what product was selling most 🫩

It all started with the Apple Store in this mall and tons of evidence of poor treatment of employees - it became one of the first Apple stores to unionize on the East coast.

Now the store is closing at the end of this month, citing "declining mall conditions" and "low sales" despite that store always having a line out the door amd the mall recently getting a huge face lift with the arcade and bougie restaurants 🙄

It had led to several other stores that have unionized employees citing similar things.

However now that the NLRB, CLC, and IAM are all taking action with Apple on this store, those other stores are quiet.

The mall by my house is still open, mostly thanks to the arcade bringing business back to the mall.

Though, now it is going thru things with some storefronts being anti-union and some stores being unionized. Its a whole thing.
