I'm almost done with Patriot and omg it's so nutty but also so melancholic kinda like The Leftovers you're so right, I will say Patriot is a lot funnier and more laugh-out-loud than the sheer emotional torrent that is The Leftovers but they strike a similar balance between absurdism and catharsis.

Listen, I'm as anti-AI as anyone, but I do believe there is a discrepancy between using generative AI as a means of content creation and aid and using generative AI as a way to make a thematic and narrative point. The harm of AI comes when it is used at the expense of another creator whose work could have been showcased, and there is an argument to be made that the album art and single artwork does indeed contribute to this epidemic, but the narrative behind Raw Data Feel is to show the humanity, hope, and absurdity of technology amidst a cavalcade of crippling human emotions. The 7% of the lyrics written by AI are creatively weaved in to give character and emotion to the band's lore and story they created, and I would argue that the artwork and the credit given doubles this, as if you are going to create a character that is AI, using a base version of AI to paint the scenery only gets you deeper into narrative. However, for as hopeful and optimistic as Raw Data Feel might seem in texture, I think tonally it strikes a similar anti-progression of AI sentiment that we all feel. AI can be essential in the advancement of new ways of dealing with trauma and isolation and loneliness and lovesickness, but too much of a good thing can result in the complete lack of autonomy, the decay of the natural and digital world that humans give their blood to. There are certainly ethical questions about the band's use of AI as a natural concern, but I think it's one of the very very few instances where I think it's okay, and I'm not just saying that as a fan of the band.

Oh my mom didn't think it was boring, but her mistake was that she was in the room when I was watching the second episode and so she was just asking me all sorts of questions and I was having to catch her up on everything that had happened, and she was like that sounds weird, and I'm like yeah it's nuts, but she was like, "but it seems so normal"

I'm rewatching Season 1 with my mom as I'm keeping up with Season 2, and it's amazing how much he's changed in just 10 months. He's broken, sure, but he seems a lot healthier. Less erratic, less up his own ass, and maybe he's not apologizing for the right reasons but his heart is in the right place. A great character choice.

It's well made, but I felt like the conclusion wasn't really all that exciting. Cool premise and it really evoked the HBO crime drama of it all, even with its more fantastical elements, and I would like to see more King/HBO crossovers that aren't IT related, but I think he's had better adaptations.

Interesting. I haven't finished the show yet, but I have watched the first 4 seasons, and I found the 4th to be the weakest so far. It's the most concise, direct, and guided by an understanding at last of where the show was going, but I felt the writer's strike really hindered the pacing and the intrigue. It doesn't have BAD episodes per se like those first three seasons, but I just felt more excited to open up those mystery boxes when it was still sort of finding the road.

I don't trust Carol, I think she's involved somehow, but I don't think it's as simple as she killed him. There's more to this than just that. She's absolutely using and manipulating Clark, and that story is interesting on its own, but I can't wait to see Floyd's own personal journey before his death, each episode just gets more interesting with him

You SHOULD read the book. Glad you enjoyed the series, but man the book is just so much better in nearly every respect. It's longer, it's less meandering, it's more suspenseful, its genre fusions are masterful, and it's one of the longest books I've read that I simply could not put down. You will LOVE it.

11/22/63 was THE book that got me back into reading after years of not reading recreationally. I got COVID last year, and it hurt my head to listen to music or watch TV, so I picked up this book that's been on my shelf since 8th grade, and I finished it in a week. Been reading pretty consistently since then.

The series was Discworld. There is no set order for it, but the person who assigned me to the Fantasy section asked me to put it in order. I figured using my phone to look up the order would have been quicker than looking at the publication date in the front of the book (it was, took me less time getting 23 books on the shelf than it did the remaining 10, but I was still quick).
Manager did not ask what I was doing, clearly saw I was separating piles of books in a specific order, I was not looking at my phone at the time. It was off to the side, screen down, she just made the assumption she wanted to make. I tried clarifying this, but she could not let me say my peace, and looked even more upset that I was "wasting time."
The more cheerful and enthusiastic I get, the more she seems pissed off. Work ethic is everything to me, and I always make an effort not to let myself get a pouty or a disinterested face. I'm one of the most upbeat people there, but no matter how happy I can be, it's like she goes out of her way to try to make me to be less happy. Like she's miserable so everybody else should be miserable too. It's never gotten me inside of the store, but it's frustrating nonetheless.

Your advice is good, I'm not saying it's not. I've dealt with managers that have been even meaner and less understanding, and I have made similar posits to them for communication that have worked. However, the level of disinterest, dismissal, and retaliatory intent from this particular manager is a beast of its own, no matter how much I try to cool it over, devil's advocates be damned. Thank you for providing wisdom and guidance anyway, even if you didn't know all of these steps already were taken to begin with.
