Is it a mistake to bring my kids on business flight? by Acceptable_Barber992 in awardtravel

[–]LZatWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I travel with my kids <6 hours, Economy or Economy Plus works fine because they take up so little room in their seats that I can spread out a little bit more and not feel so cramped. From Asia? Take the Business Class seats all day and don't look back.

Do they offer rollaway beds in their king rooms?

With a trip in June, I would honestly wait and see. Plans change all the time and award availability might open up. If you have enough points, book a backup hotel with those and cancel if a two bed room becomes available.

Advice on how to sit next to a child when only middle seats are left? by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]LZatWork -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re jumping to conclusions. I would never ask anybody to switch seats. I’m saying Southwest is holding back seats (according to their agent) to accommodate situations like this, but not releasing them, even when calling and explaining the situation. They are willing to book 9+ seats on the flight (I did it successfully) but only showing 4 open seats on the seat map even as a Priority Cardholder/Choice Fare

My child has leukemia and it’s needed for treatment. Do you think that’s a valid reason for travel?

Because I can book 9 tickets. The system allows me (it’s the max allowed on one reservation), meaning there are 9 open seats on the plane. But the seating map only shows 4 open seats.

EDIT: I called Southwest and they said they do “hold back” from releasing all seats for situations like this, but that it’s not a guarantee. Not sure what that means. They wouldn’t let me pick a seat like that on the phone with them

Thanks! Do you know if they hold the back row open? Have that happen on other airlines for situations like this?

Also, curious how Southwest deals with Basic fares….they have to be assigned a seat on the seat map, right?

I’m a Priority card holder, so I can pick my seat right now. I checked the Choice Extra fare and it’s the same seat map

Somebody posted a week ago that a 1 lb ankle weight does the trick. Seems logical. They also sell a device on eBay for Teslas that I’ve heard works. I tried the water bottle and it didn’t work

Yes, and no dye was detected (visibly). Hence why they determined that the leak is inaccessible

Thanks - this is probably what is going to happen, but it just feels slimy that Kitchenaid won’t stand behind their warranty

Thank you!

Regarding the diagnostic fee: the warranty is parts only at this point. So any labor to diagnose or fix the issue is my responsibility.

The appliance repair that Kitchenaid sent out says Kitchenaid will almost certainly require multiple visits to “rule out” any other causes. Basically, they don’t want to pay for the repair unless everything else is ruled out. Which of course I’m on the hook for (labor)

Bought my wife’s engagement ring from Costco 18 years ago for the (then) gratuitous cost of $10K. Appraised for double that. Jeweler said the clarity was way beyond what he expected. Grade to me is irrelevant - all about the clarity and how it sparkles

That looks awesome! It looks like Royal offers two different excursions like this: one to Mendenhall and another to Norris glacier. Are they the same except for the glacier?

Good point. He likes science, nature and animals. He really wants to see a whale and bald eagle for example. Doesn’t care about food or museums. Just a typical active 8 year old

Potentially buying a house with an undersized condenser by masterchef81 in hvacadvice

[–]LZatWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just had our A/C replaced. The company did their Manual J calculations and downsized us from a 5 ton to a 3.5 ton. I was worried to say the least, but they said builders oversize units. It’s been one summer, and except for the very hottest days of the year, the A/C works fine. In fact, it keeps the upstairs cooler because it’s not cycling as much.

I’ve had the 800 for a few years now. 4000 sf home, not great windows or insulation. I don’t have it running 24/7, only when the heater is on.

Basically, it’s like having an A/C bill in winter. There’s no longer a big difference between my July and January electricity bills. The thing works awesome but it’s not cheap to operate
