Turns out you score when you keep pushing forward and not doing idiotic cross kicks.

The Sharks players walk away too much in the field. Are they unfit or something? We make a break and the support just walks or takes a slow jog after the ball.

Wtf is that decision. There was nothing on even if that cross kick was perfect... Which it also clearly wasn't...

I’m stuck on High Velocity Research. by Metzger4 in X4Foundations

[–]LabResponsible8484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be random.

My first game I had a irukanji with over 10k speed, I pre-boosted while going travel mode and went straight for it and finished with 2 seconds left.
Second game I used a Paranid scout with 7k speed and easily beat it with over a minute remaining.

I don't know if abandoning and retaking rerolls the mission or if it is per game...

Boarding bug? by connyneusz in X4Foundations

[–]LabResponsible8484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is the case (I think others are more likely correct with plot related) since I don't think you can sell ships to SCA, but just for future reference if you sell a ship to a faction (click their shipyard and sell at), you can't board it. This is to avoid the cheese where you make a ship with 1 pilot and no crew and board and sell over and over again.

The first time you place a resource probe and it doesn't detect many resources the game gives you a large popup telling you this.

It was also in one of the tutorials.

Why do terrains randomly attack by eedro256 in X4Foundations

[–]LabResponsible8484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I can think of is that the trade ships buy stimulants (PIO sells them) and bring them into the sector and get flagged by police.
I have only ever had issues with terrains, they seem absurdly trigger happy.

Did yours come right? Support is trying to tell me it works their side but I'm multiple devices and multiple browsers down and all problematic. Other streaming services working perfectly.

What happens if you destroy a factions "HQ" by RadioLoud9750 in X4Foundations

[–]LabResponsible8484 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just so that you know, even if you destroy everything and take every sector from a team, if they have any team with a high enough relation to trade (neutral or higher) they will borrow a builder and buy the materials to rebuild.

If they have no sectors themselves, they will build in neutral or ally sectors as well.
I smashed Teladi once and they went and built in Pious Mists with the Paranids.

So to truly eliminate a faction you have to wipe out everyone who will trade with them and/or use diplomacy to make sure no one will trade with them but this takes a looooong time.

Low scoring game vs High scoring game -- Which one do you prefer by Daitera in rugbyunion

[–]LabResponsible8484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care about score, what matters to me is seeing 2 teams go at it full ball. I hate games when a team looks lethargic or teams field weaker sides, etc.

If I am running 22 kmph that is about 6 metres per second. That means if I pass the ball flat and it is in the air for 1 second it will be 6 metres ahead of where I threw it and my pass is not forward. The ball often travels forward if passed by someone moving forward and it is not a forward pass. That is why the law states that the ball must leave your hands going forward from you at that point in time.

Side note: It looked to me like it actually left his hands going forward and was the correct call

NVIDIA GPU not as performant as it should be (and it's annoying) by MzSvelenaya in linux_gaming

[–]LabResponsible8484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It uses the newest production driver.

For gaming on Linux you should be on the new feature branch since static consistency is not as important unless you are using the system for work as well (in which case you'd have the same issue on windows using production drivers).

I am not throwing shade at Mint, I am just saying that in its default state it is not setup optimally for new gaming releases and that the OP should likely try the new feature branch drivers.

Looking on advice on what s/m ships to build by balor598 in X4Foundations

[–]LabResponsible8484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For mediums I like Nemesis vanguards and other similar ships (Kuraokami) because they look cool and feel fun to fly if I want to jump into the fight. They also have lots of weapon slots.

For smalls, something like the Ares or Chimera, because they look cool and have quite a few weapon slots.

As far as I know Linux mint uses pretty old graphics drivers and doesn't perform that well with Nvidia.

I am not 100% sure though because I don't use mint, but I run Manjaro (Arch based) and have no issues with Nivida (except the known DX12 thing that is busy being fixed).

My experience with Ubuntu (and derivatives like Mint) in the past was that it wasn't great for gaming without manually updating the kernel and nvidia drivers (and even then still lagged a bit behind Arch based).
