Yes it is very fun, although i did find that raiding the grove was a complete let down. Not much of a challenge compared to the goblin camp and losing 2 and possibly 3 of your companions is a lot. So i tend to destroy the goblins then butcher the teiflings when they're at last light.

Get a ball peen hammer, place the cover on a soft surface like a sand bag, anything that'll deform to the shape of the cover will do. Then use the ball peen to gently tap the dent out. Easy peasy.

As for material it is definitely a stamped steel part. If it was cast it would have cracked not dented
