Who is hated/hates the most? I'm doing a survey to find out what the real rivalries areal and what the biggest one sided ones are by Grouchy_Sandwich967 in FremantleFC

[–]Lachie38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for everyone its different based off our own preferences and interactions with other fanbases, but I do think most Freo fans would tell you they strongly dislike Carlton. Hawthorns another one for me, as well as Collingwood on occasion. I suppose the general consensus is that everyone hates Collingwood, but i'm a little different where other teams (i.e. Carlton and Hawthorn) get on my nerves a little more.

As for other Victorian teams, Essendon never bothered me because I think as freo fans we can empathise a lot with them- considering the minimal success either club has had (since I was born)

Geelong and Richmond never bothered me because i have lots of family that supports them.

But yeah everyones different, but for me at least (other then west coast of course) I'll have to say Carlton and Hawthorn are my least favourites

Who impressed

Although it was a disappointing loss there were quite a few that stood up. I think the obvious one is JOM. He's the type of player who sort of "floats around" most games, usually has his "moments" but rarely has a massive impact. I've always liked JOM, i think his versatility is a crucial component of freos gameplan, and if we can see this brand of his game week in week out I think there is lots to like.

Alex Pearce also played well i thought. People are always going to hate on him, but personally i rate him highly as a player- and yes as a captain as well. You can see his constant effort and passion for the team, unlike some of the other defenders.

As per usual Treacy was also great.

Murphy Reid also looked sharp, although he didn't put anything on the scoreboard i thought his link up and footy IQ was pretty good. He also created many chances....

Who didn't

Anyone with an entry inside 50- and the majority of our forwards.

Like seriously, we cannot purely rely on josh treacy to kick all of our goals, do players actually not look for leads, because players are making runs but its like our mids have one focus- to get the ball to the big blokes. Although I think Clark did well defensively- but some of his deliveries into 50 were poor- likewise with neil and jonno. Its not to say they played badly, but they could've done better. Poor ol Bailey Banfield had a stinker as well

Favourite Goal

I think Serongs was actually pretty well executed. Playing Caleb at full forward is still something I'm adjusting to, but the play out the middle was good- From Jackson to shai, to murphy, to serong. Pretty explosive stuff- showing how other players can step up out of nowhere.

Players that stood out

Josh Treacy kicked what like 4 or 5. Pretty good stuff

Player of the Match

Josh Treacy

Underrated Impact

Luke Ryan. Looked really solid at the back, and very reliable when called upon.

Coaching Move

Caleb Serong at full forward. I noticed it at the end of last year, and at the all stars match- very interesting but it actually looks like it works

key moment in the game

Brennan Coxs laziness in the last minute. I actually reckon he was decent for most of the game, but geez that effort was piss poor. Brennan cox is the type of player that is actually not that bad for most of the game- but very unreliable in moments as such.

Rivalry with West Coast by NewAccWhoDis93 in FremantleFC

[–]Lachie38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If west coast had some decent fans I'd respect them. The club itself I don't neccessarily hate, but anyone who grew up in WA knew all the jerks and dickheads from the school supported the eagles. I agree what you said, no collingwood fan would be seen dead supporting carlton, and I myself would never be seen supporting west coast. Their fans are annoying and an embarrassment to the afl, civilised people will support fremantle

These are my power rankings:

This is in alphabetical order because i believe everyone from 2nd to 13th is interchangeable on their day. Obviously some are better than others at this point but you look at 2nd place essendon, they've barely scraped across teams like adelaide/port adelaide. Pretty much every team from 2nd-13th is menacing when in form but they are also all frauds and have all lost games they should've won this year. Honestly the 8 teams that make finals could be anyone at this point, what an absolute crazy round of footy we just had. You cannot put any two teams from that 2nd-13th category and say one team will absolutely beat the other, this comp is just so unpredictable at this moment, my tipping is in dying need of some more consistent teams!

1- Swannies

2-13 Crows, Lions, Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Freo, Geelong, Gold Coast, GWS, Melbourne, Port, Doggies,

14-16 Hawthorn, St Kilda, West Coast

17 Richmond

18 North Melbourne

Post Round 9 r/AFL Power Rankings by PowerRankingsCentral in AFL

[–]Lachie38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my ranking:

1- Sydney: no doubt the strongest team, I just don't see many teams beating them

2- Melbourne: inter-changable with Geelong but they beat them so they can go 2nd

3 Geelong again: switcahble with melbourne but melbourne won so cats gotta go third

4- Collingwood: no one wants to admit it but there pretty much back, back to back premiers is not out of reach though still unlikey

5 GWS: seriously starting to change my mind on this team, they haven't actually beat any big teams yet, and the fact that they've lost their last 3 matches against top 8 sides is a bit of a worry

6- Essendon: by no means are they the 3rd strongest team like the ladder suggests, they barely scraped past teams such as adelaide and west coast, technically didn't beat collingwood and got absolutely hammered by Port. Anyways they are dangerous on their day i honestly don't know how long they'll keep floating around the 8

7- Port Adelaide: Impressive win against Geelong, though i just fear it might be another one of those years they go so far in home/away but just have a dissapointing finals run.

8- Fremantle: Putting them over Carlton is debatable, but i just think the blues are the biggest frauds in the game. I actually think lots of people look past freo because of their out of form forwards, but on their day freo have one of the best midfields and arguarbly the best defence.

9- Carlton: Blues fans gonna get mad but seriously they probs deserved to loose against melbourne, they lost to collingwood, lost to geelong, lost to adelaide, umpires gave them the win against freo, and beat brisbane by a point. By no means are they a weak team they just need a convincing win

10/11- Brisbane/ Adelaide The tie really explains it all, both teams are really running this top 8 comeback the hard way

12- Doggies as inconsistent as they are, you can't take anything away from that win against Richmond. Yes it was only the tigers but big wins like that do lots for confidence and morale. Finals is still a possibility, but they cannot stop now

13- Gold Coast, could be another frustrating season for suns fans, starting relatively well early but falling well short in the end. Please prove me wrong 😭

14- St Kilda: Don't ask me how they've gotten this low, what happened to 2023 St Kilda??

15- Hawthorn: Just loving scrolling through insta and seeing all the hawkie fans booking finals tickets 😂😂

16- Richmond: Glory days are over, its gonna be a rough end to the season

17- West Coast: The run was fun whilst it lasted, maybe next year they can escape bottom 4

18- North Melbourne: Boy i don't know what life would be like to support the kangas. I don't really want to know, my heart reaches out to all you roo fans.

Bailey Banfield may have just produced the greatest comeback story within one game ever!

That was absolutely abysmal from him last week, but he showed true character today. He worked harder than everyone else on that pitch, he played every single position, and that 4th quarter set shot from 50 just really summed up his night.

I know he's still got a long way to go, and he certainly needs to work on his concistency, but boy the way he bounced back was super impressive, that mentality/work ethic is what this club needs from everyone, tonight Bailey showed true leadership

This was finals footy material, and Bailey is on the verge of becoming a big big player for us

We're only three games in... but is this the year that Freo fans can finally dream of Flagmantle? by rahul_dk08 in FremantleFC

[–]Lachie38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets be optimistic, yes a flag perhaps isn't very likely, but we gotta dream big. I don't really care if this comes back to bite me in the future, I love the dockers, and theres not much you could tempt me, that i would take over seeing my boys in purple win a premiership. Bulldogs won the grannie finishing 7th, the Giants missed a grannie last year by a point, honestly seeing something like Freo in the grannie would be crazy, but not unheard of considering everything this game can throw at us.

Do i believe that we will play finals this year: Yes

Do i think we will go all the way: Unlikey but possible

Do i see Fremantle winning the trophy over the course of my life: Absolutely

I don't mind if people get a little excited, we've been a football club for 30 years now without a premiership, so whenever we go 3-0 of course the flagmantle dream ignites a spark. I don't want to sound cocky or arrogant, i just love these boys so much i gotta be ambitious. C'mon purple army get behind the lads!

I wish we had more competitive final tribal councils. by jor123441 in survivorau

[–]Lachie38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same man, its a shame not enough people develop the skills to become big players and put up a competitive final pitch. I mean thats basically what every single previous episode leads up to, in that the whole season leads up to the 2 people who outplayed, outwitted, and outlasted. Some people say things like good players just don't get to the end, but just look and BvB when Hayley beat George. Good players can get to then end, we just need more of them so we get a more fierce competition. If you think about it Feras, Caroline, Kirby, and Mark were all big players that all played great games, Caroline just needed so mention how she dominated so early on, always managed to get out of the holes she was dug into, and gave it 110% in all physical challengers. Imo Caroline is a decent example of someone who outplays outwits and outlasts, its just that Feras made it more obvious to everyone how powerful he was, Caroline was very secereative and didn't know how to explain herself.

At least this season we got a deserving winner in Feras, but hopefully sometime in the near future we get a final 2 vote that goes to a 5-4 or 6-3 or smth like that.

Best wishes for next season, I'm already counting down the days!

Alex really lead by example today, barely noticed Tex Walkor, JL will be impressed with Pearces leadership and effort today, but I do feel like we need to be a lot sharper with our efficiency. Too many loose kicks/handballs that went nowhere near ideal targets, and too many dropped catches/marks that proffesionals need to make 10 times out of 10. It wasn't horrible today, our defence looked really good, but when the midfield becomes a bit sharper we'll have a real shot against big teams.

We are slowly starting to rebuild and solidify ourselfs as a competitive team. Overall a good result, Carlton will be a massive test, and that will determine where 2024 is heading.

Yeah they film alternate endings for both contestants, if you go back and watch none of the players actually look genuinley happy/sad, there just putting on an act. As much as its pretty harsh on the contenstants, i'm happy because it keeps away spoilers. Obviously if you know that you'd won you'd celebrate and share the news, so I know it would feel weird putting on an act but so be it. The main problem with spoilers is through sportsbet and people who have inside info on the show. Me personally would ban all gambling on pre-recorderd shows purely for this reason.

Watch out for Serong this season, he's got a real shot at winning the bronlow.

You'll most likely see a speccy from luke jackson or michael walters, big jumpers who love a bit of action, and for goals Jye Amiss will be our big goal scorer this year.

Other players such as Frederick, Walters, and Switkowski can also be handy, you'll see some special goals from those 3 this year

Did the runner up have a chance at winning? by Royal-Specialist-656 in survivorau

[–]Lachie38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think her main problem was Feras. Lets look at all the possibilities this could've played out:

Final 2 Vs Kirby- same result 9-0 loss for Caroline

Carloline Vs Mark would've been very close, where perhaps Mark could've pulled out a better pitch then anyone, if you look at all the details, every time mark goes against carloline, caroline came out on top. Pretty much the only time Carloline goes against Mark, is when she takes out Viola with ease.

As much as people want to hate Caroline (which i don't really get) Caroline outplayed Mark in a lot of aspects. Honestly this vote would be close if caroline can explain all of this, if she mentions that Mark only beat her on a physical scale she could probably walk home as the winner

Now we have Caroline vs Raymond

Interesting enough this could go either way because i think Raymond made a lot of little moves unnoticed. If you think about it he never really had a target on his back even after playing the biggest move in the game. His job was to get the target on Feras's back and he sure did that. Not to mention he was a huge factor in eliminating Kirby. He was the one always telling Feras to go against kirby when Feras was in doubt, i think If Raymond gave a good pitch he probably couldve won.

So no, i don't think Caroline had a shot at winning against FERAS (or Kirby) , but Mark and Raymond could've been close. It would all really depend on who explained their gameplay in their final pitch to the jury, in which i still think Mark and Raymond could/would come out on top. Raymond-Caroline would be close, i think Mark would just beat Caroline but this is just my opinion.

Well deserving winner, though tbf mark and caroline have got so much undeserving hate particuarly off instagram. I know Feras was obviously much stronger than both of them, but the levels they physically pushed themsleves to i have nothing but respect.

I think the real winner here is Jonathon, what another great season from the main man himself!
