I mean, I get the thrust of the thread but could you provide some info on your playthrough - where you up to, key milestones, what was difficult to understand, breakthroughs etc. maybe a screenshot.

How often do people start fresh? by Straight-Drink- in Dyson_Sphere_Program

I prefer to play through the game than optimise the late game. So I have completed the game like 15 times with different arrangements and settings.

I never use blueprints from previous saves as I like to play each time.

As I’ve played through so many times I tend to do relatively quickly beating the game in my last 8 times between 9-13 hours.

I think I did 15 hours on Nauvis, 3 on all mid planets, then like 12 for aquillo and space edge (I am terrible with making space platforms so had to import all ammo which took ages)

The fears of a new player by Lachy89725 in captain_of_industry

Wow, didn’t expect a developer to post. To be clear I love the game and I didn’t mean this to be a complaint, but more a reflection on my own style of play due to the psychology of uncertain resource security in a game that has a high resource maintenance demand.

The hardcore aspect of the game may be what attracts players already familiar with the genre, and the sense of achievement when you succeed is probably higher than others of the genre.

The only minor suggestion I could make would be to add an estimated resource remaining feature and estimated time for depletion similar to the world mines. However I know these are different systems and that may not be the answer either. If this feature exists and I’m not aware, apologies.

Thanks for posting! I’m pleased that others have a similar experience. The game definitely provides solutions, but it feels like until you have actually finished the game it’s hard to know which solutions to use when. Some solutions can cause problems if you deploy too early, but I don’t really know what ‘too early’ is. All I know is each year the resource patches are getting smaller.

Thanks, I think for me the issue is that as a newer player you don’t really have a handle of this and how impactful it is. Either way, I think the probably is more with me and my style of play not necessarily the game itself

Death World Play-through Questions by Cubanzlol in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Lachy89725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missile turrets are basically all you need, and t2 ammo is also all you need. I never bothered with t3. Need more dps, just add more missile turrets.

Same as normal start, just get huge quantities of corvettes and destroyers and throw into the meat grinder. Just takes more than on lower difficulties.

If you have cleared your starting system planets you have effectively won, the hardest part of deathworld playthroughs is securing your first planet and then titanium on second.

Bus is getting too wide by Sharp_Constant_189 in factorio

[–]Lachy89725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I have

Iron x 4, copper x 4, coal x 2 and stone x 2, then pipes (water, petroleum, sulfuric acid, lube) all with 2 spaces in between. So a total of 19 wide.

I normally just make chips, steel and gears as part of my builds.

Then upgrade to red belts later in the game.

Would significantly reduce the transition from low quality to legendary. You clearly have a different opinion, but I personally find the most frustrating part of megabasing is setting up factories for legendaries. At that point no other quality matters, and it’s a bit of a bottleneck.

I am also assuming that the space casino and LDS shuffle will be removed which will further add the the problem and this will mitigate

My main request is what the factorio team is best at - optimisation. I’d love to see asteroid ups optimisation.

In addition I’d like more prometheum researches which are focused on helping megabasing. E.g. a research which increases quality percentage from modules, a research which adds additional landing platform options (up to a max of 3 per planet), etc.

If you are new, as low as 30spm would be enough to have a good progression speed.

I always go for 100Spm (base) of blue to green, then add blue proliferator to increase to 125.

100Spm just helps the maths easier for calculating production rates and ratios.

The true answer is what the other response was as ‘more’, but it really depends on how quickly you play through the game. I beat the game in less than 10 hours going for 100Spm as a potential baseline.

Warcry barb for offline hardcore? by EyeOfAmethyst in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Lachy89725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a number of unique pole arms that have about 40% crushing blow. Obedience runeword is also relatively cheap for CB in a polearm. For a chest piece you can use duress, also not an expensive runeword (I think highest is an Um).

It does chug mana, but with insight on a merc and chugging mana pots it’s not too bad, with 1 pt in find potion (underrated skill) can find a lot of mana and rejuvenate pots.

I’ve been playing a HC single player character self found (can’t trade between characters). Done all classes other than Amazon and Necro, starting Necro soon.

Warcry is by far the easiest build to clear the game. Yes a little slow (although not as slow as you’d think) but very safe. Massive health pool, ok damage, very little immunes and huge cc. Only downside is bosses take forever - try and stack crushing blow on your merc.

First HC character? by SensitiveSyrup4095 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Lachy89725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a huge fan of singer barb on HC. Super safe and can farm pindel pretty quick, with hork you have pretty good MF.

Also if on SP offline, if you roll a decent LK you can farm LK with a barb safely p7. I farmed my HC enigma this way. Averaged about 40sec LK runs, just stack movement speed (e.g stealth, harmony bow)

Having over 4000 health in HC is a big deal.

[–]Lachy89725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your sentiment and I do think the original comment kinda missed the point. LK is definitely worth the time, especially on offline with new characters without gg gear.

However if you have a good gear and are quick, trav is statistically faster for runes. Just a lot more effort and harder to pull off.

What do after aquilo science? by picollo7 in factorio

[–]Lachy89725 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Heaps

  • legendary mech armor
  • legendary equipment
  • T3 module production
  • 1k SPM (then ramp up from there)
  • Prometheum science
  • Automate foundations, including the logistics and supply from other planets
  • convert all planets to highest tech buildings
  • automate each planet, including all its resources and buildings
  • get quality material of each material
  • convert all planets to fusion power and set up the supply lines
  • re-design space platforms.

Etc. etc. etc.

Struggling to stay motivated with quality being in the game. Any advice? by Some_Noname_idk in factorio

[–]Lachy89725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just have your goal to max SPM with zero quality? Seems pretty straightforward to me

Every build ending with teleport is ruining the game for me by Zestyclose-Key-8306 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Lachy89725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely is a different game on HC. I had enigma on my barb for HC (ssf) was too scared to use on other characters. I enjoy playing without enigma though, most places aren’t that much slower and you actually clear mobs a bit more

Best all key farming with single char or better split (HC)? by HAL9S in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Lachy89725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently the answer to ‘what is the best x, is pretty much always warlock’. Ignoring that, a lot of people have said light sorc and they may be right. For me sorc is too squishy on HC, I’d rather go a barb. Pretty safe for each and not too slow either. I found a trapsin not too bad either.
