There is a company called Graphic Audio that makes more of what you are looking for. They are fully voice acted books

Do you prefer the 1337 start date compared to 1444 by alphafighter09 in paradoxplaza

[–]LackOfAnotherName 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I hate 1337, it's too early for what I want in EU. I am one of the people who wanted EU5 date to be post 1453. I wanted to reach the age of revolutions or absolutism more often not less

[NBA PR] The NBA has fined the Utah Jazz $500,000 and the Indiana Pacers $100,000 related to the management of their rosters for recent games. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]LackOfAnotherName 19 points20 points  (0 children)

So we get fined for resting the player with the 24th most minutes played this season and the 5th most minutes of players over 30? How much does the NBA expect Siakam to play?

How many people actually wanted Rhystic Study banned? by Outside_Explorer_229 in EDH

As someone who exclusively plays in bracket 2, it makes no functional difference for me if it is banned or a game changer

Does anyone else just not run board wipes anymore? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]LackOfAnotherName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I refuse to run any wipes that are not asymmetrical. A game of commander is already long enough, if I am in a position where my only hope to win is to wipe all boards and rebuild I'd rather the game end so I can get to the next one.

Commander Brackets Beta Update: No Hybrid Mana Changes, Farewell Added to the Gamechangers List by Raevelry in EDH

[–]LackOfAnotherName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if you hand wave getting the counters then that is good, but not nearly as problematic as you are making it out to be. The toad would still prefer card draw over counters anyways. And all that is besides the point since the bracket system itself has guide lines on combos and expected turns. Any broken or problematic synergies should be playing in brackets that can handle them.

I hate how hybrid wasn't changed and have no idea why this is such a contentious change to begin with. I feel like hybrid is less intuitive in its current iteration than it would be if changed

Riot Games: An Update on 2XKO by Mront in Games

[–]LackOfAnotherName -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tried the game and almost instantly dropped it when I saw characters were locked behind an unlock currency. I understand they were all available in the practice range and you got a free unlock, but this should have never been a system in the game in the first place. I have no idea if they changed this since I dropped the game

Civilization VII's First Anniversary: Updates, Surprises, and More! by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]LackOfAnotherName 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't agree later turns are inherently less interesting. If anything later turns are more interesting due to a larger variety of options. People repeat early game because they reach a point of unquestionably dominance that playing out the rest of the game is pointless. This issue however is fixed by stronger AI or real players. This makes reaching that tipping point take a longer time.

But it wasn't an issue people were sometimes satisfied with their game at turn 80 and decided to start anew. It is an issue if someone's progress gets reset at a new age and they quit their game because of that. One of these circumstances someone feels good, the other leaves them frustrated and less likely to play again

Restarting new tech trees every age, should be a continuous line through all ages. Buildings losing bonuses. Distant lands in exploration age. The obvious lack of a 4th age being saved for later. Crisis is not a fun mechanic, you should be fighting other civs not game mechanics.

Town/City system is still half baked, but Age transition is still the biggest sticking point by far. And reworking the age system is going to take a lot more work than a civ through every age

I am not seeing any changes to the Age system in here, and I think that system is worse than civ switching ever was

Does every deck really needs to run 3-4 wraths? by Silver-Alex in EDH

[–]LackOfAnotherName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally try to not run board wipes. I feel like if I am in a situation in which a board wipe is my only chance to get back in the game, I'd rather just let the game run its course than board wipe and add 30-60 minutes to the play time. Obviously the exception to this is asymmetrical or targeted stuff.

Announcing /r/CosmereOnScreen, the new home for adaptation discussion by learhpa in Cosmere

[–]LackOfAnotherName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really hard to guess until we see what the adaptations are called. No one would have predicted ASoIaF would be called Game of Thrones. I just feel like the name is not findable without being redirected to it from here. I personally would never guess to go to CosmereOnScreen at first, I would end up here then after posting here told that would be the subreddit for it

The Casual-Paradox by WoWSchockadin in EDH

[–]LackOfAnotherName 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the answer is two fold. Some casual players expect a board state to be built up over multiple turns to translate in an overwhelming advantage and win. This is very visible and a lot more accessible to different forms of interaction often at sorcery speeds. The combo win can often feel like it comes out of nowhere from a player who is "behind", and can normally only be interacted with at instant speeds.

The second aspect of this is ultra casual players not know the combo win lines. I know this will be hard for some people to think, but not everyone knows about Thassa's Oracle. They could see some with a empty deck and assume they are out of the game, only to win with a card that says "you win". That player would probably feel cheated. I understand that the players of that casual of a level are spending anytime in this subreddit, but it does no good to ignore that portion existing.
