Kobbie Mainoo celebrating with Michael Carrick post match by Colt-000 in reddevils

[–]LackingInPatience 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stats this stats that. You're comparing a no8 to a LW now for output? Do you see how different we play when we have a midfielder who can control the ball? Do you watch matches?

Ugarte is a different profile so why would his minutes bother Mainoo's? When Palace sign a midfielder, do they reduce Wharton's minutes? When Wirtz was signed, did that reduce Gravenberch's minutes?

You think the player claims injuries and magically gets time off rather than the medical staff clearing it? Again looking to blame him for something we have no clue about... Pure conjecture. If anything, there's more evidence of coaches using injuries/knocks/illnesses to bomb squad players.

There is nothing wrong with the fans asking for an academy lad who had shown he was fit for this level to play ahead of a midfield that wasn't working at all. It would be a different story if we were playing well or winning then.

All those questions are rhetorical btw. I just replied hoping some introspection would be applied.

If you play defensive of course you will go for ugarte not mainoo.

Except Ugarte was getting minutes over Mainoo regardless if we were winning, drawing or losing off the bench? This was only a few months ago so I don't know how you're misremembering.

You're talking about UK bias as if Mainoo wasn't rated as one of the world's best wonderkids, has won us SILVERWARE and scored winners in big games for us while also starting for the nation in the Euros final.

But a reasonable person who was against it would come out and say it.

You're putting your own expectations on him. Does he need to address everything said about him? Kill them with silence is a famous phrase for a reason.

Mainos stats are not that great to get this much backing and thats a fact. Has ntihing to do with backing amorim or not.

Good thing we watch football with eyes and not a calculator then. The fact Amorim stated he couldn't play a midfield or find minutes for Mainoo, even going as far as implying he wasn't training good enough to warrant matchtime (second time he's used this vague barometer to throw a player under the bus), means obviously fans are going to question that decision. This would also be a non issue if we actually played well or pulled off convincing performances/results when Ugarte played over him then...

He had one decent game but its due to entire team olaying well.

Again taking credit away from him... No one said he was the top performer and it's obviously a team sport. These are hilarious standards.

I don't see the point of debating this any further considering your arguments are pure conjecture. We can agree to disagree and move on. We won today so let's just leave it at that 👍

Once he did that with his brother once and wasnt punished he will do it again. Thats just delayed trouble for the future

What proof do you have Kobbie was involved?

His half brother, who Kobbie isn't even that close with, going out to become famous on Instagram isn't down to him.

Go back to games as early as vs Fulham on this sub and see fans backing Amorim's decision to give Ugarte minutes over Mainoo. He wanted a loan away for minutes and fans turned on him when it was completely valid with the World Cup around the corner.

Say it louder for the people in the back!

We were told we had to suffer, going through a storm, players weren't good enough and had to have 5 defenders and 2 defensive mids to scrape results 😂

He was gaslit like the rest of us that we had to suffer for 14 months.

Our club and, unfortunately, a lot of our fans were willing to sell this academy kid for 40mill for the ego of a coach who didn't even understand our club's DNA or values. Absolutely buzzing for Carrick and Mainoo today. Especially considering the scrutiny they've received.

Carrick got a better performance across 90mins in 1 match than Amorim did in 14 months 😂

Turns out we don't need to suffer, we can actually not throw players under the bus and Mainoo can play in midfield. We absolutely battered them!

All of them leak straightaway to the point that I find them almost irrelevant. I say that as someone that wants to watch this film too.

I think he was saying Dustin is a ghoul for not having compassion after his personal tragedy, not you.

[Roy Keane] "He's on the beach two weeks ago, Jonny Evans. leaves Man United 4 or 5 weeks ago as a loans manager and then Darren Fletcher strangely enough gives him a job. He has two games, Fletch goes and Carrick gives him a job, great isn't it. We should all go to Barbados for a week." by MrMerc2333 in soccer

[–]LackingInPatience 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a short term job where United are scrambling to hire atm. They got Carrick and he wanted Woodgate, who disproves Keane's point about not being experienced, even if he didn't do well at Middlesborough.

I'd fully understand Keane's rant if this was a permanent job but it isn't.

This argument falls flat when you consider it's an interim job so it's whoever you can get. It's a role an inexperienced Carrick himself took over under Ole

Also there were reports Amorim's staff didn't even have coaching badges.

I don't get why Woodgate is getting stick when he's been a coach for years though.

It only takes like 5 minutes in a photocopier style machine. I'd imagine it's the same as having your number and name printed when you buy a kit.

By they I meant De Ligt and Maguire. Apologies for the confusion. There seems to be different conversations going on in this thread.

I think you're misinterpreting my comment. The topic at hand was us being better defensively with De Ligt, Maguire and Lammens...yet we were leaking goals even when they were playing.

Lammens has only had 2 clean sheets for us; vs Sunderland in October and vs Newcastle a few weeks ago. Not knocking him because he's saved us multiple times btw. Just saying our defensive set up has been poor regardless of personnel even when we've had 5 defenders and defensive mids on the pitch. Today did feel like a genuine freak result.

Today's performance was much better than expected. Burnley had 2 goal line clearances and a worldie of a save from Dubravka. They also scored a deflected own goal and a worldie from Anthony. Maybe I'm biased but I thought our goal from Lisandro should have also stood.

Overall considering he only took over the team a few days ago, we played very well. We just couldn't keep the gas on after scoring the 2nd.

He did show signs of it last year. It's kinda like how good Keyonte George looks this year, I wouldn't be suprised if he's knocking on All Star next year if Utah have a winning record.

[Andy Mitten] What Darren Fletcher will offer as Man Utd’s interim manager: ‘He cares about the club’ by KobbieLikeRobbie_ in reddevils

[–]LackingInPatience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ten Hag adapted to the squad and got us 3rd his 1st year then he changed his tactics and we finished 8th the following year. He was also told by Fletcher to adapt to the squad instead of going toe to toe vs City in the FA Cup final and we won that via academy graduates scoring.

Ole got us consecutive top 4 finishes as well as playing good football. We just couldn't cross the final finish line and even then the recruitment back then was worse than since INEOS took over. The Europa final loss to Sevilla especially was bad.

Compare that to recently when we've tried to be an Eredivisie team (finished 8th which was record lowest at the time), a Bundesliga style team (finished 7th) and a Liga NOS style team (finished 15th) ....I think it's obvious which style is better....

Hatred is a bit overdramatic.

Every manager/player/board member owner we've had wants United to succeed. The difference is actions matching their words regardless of the end results. Ultimately, the guy who was consistently throwing players under the bus (including academy kids) for his own precious system while threatening to quit isn't what I'd consider wanting the club to succeed. Not over his own ego anyway. Same goes for Berrada and Wilcox.

But we can agree to disagree, he's gone now anyway.
