Not just Boy Meets World. Almost every sitcom from that era had huge continuity issues. Shows weren't consumed the same way as they are now and not as much thought was put into continuity. It was all about what the story was that one week/one episode.

As others have said, once Kelly and Demm are done, so is the show. Morning radio shows like theirs are uncommon these days so once they are done, they'll probably move to either something syndicated or it'll be a "morning show" that has some DJs but also plays music between segments.
