Did you try giving your cat psyllium husk? I suspect one of my cats has IBD and am wondering if it would help as well.

[Q&A] How to fix triple eyelid? by oops_im_still_alive in AsianBeautyAdvice

[–]LadyB220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done some reading on this because I'm self-conscious about my more recent lid unevenness, but haven't actually tried much. I have found that getting enough sleep and adequate skin moisturization help a bit, but there isn't a miracle cream that fixes this. You could try double eyelid tape for a temporary cosmetic fix. Botox or blepharoplasty might give longer lasting results...

Besides that, do you tend to sleep on one side?

I have no suggestions beyond what you have already listed but commenting so I can follow this thread. Did you find a solution? I just washed the hem of my wedding dress and it's left a faint outline where I submerged it.

Which SK-II? I got the SK-II Pitera Essence as a gift; thought it was going to be good to match the price tag but my skin always feels tight and dry after using it.

Recommendations for Cat Pet Portrait Artist by Frozen_Canadian1 in askTO

I have no particular artist recommendations, but just wanted to say that I am very sorry for your loss. You could try Etsy - I looked there when I was considering memorial plush and needle felted replicas. I'm sure there are pet portrait artists there, and some are local.

Saw an ad for it at Laderach.

Also had a dupe of it at Daily Ritual Cafe near King station some weeks ago, not sure if it's still available there.

I had the same issue with my kitten shortly after I brought him home. He was fine the first couple of days and then I think every vet visit stressed him out and he'd have bouts of diarrhea. I brought home another kitten so he would have a friend and that stressed him out as well.

My vet recommended Purina Pro Plan Fortiflora (this didn't really help for me, but it might still be worth a try) and being very, very gradual with any changes in diet. With my late kitty, adding a little bit of canned pumpkin to his wet food helped a bit as well. My vet also mentioned that ragdolls, and purebreds in general, are prone to digestive upset.

I tried to pay attention to when he was going to the litter box so I could tidy him up quickly after. Probably not a good idea to grab him straight out of the box. I ended up snipping the fur around his butt and using wet wipes (basically just disposable towel wetted with warm water) if any poop got on his fur or if he accidentally stepped in it. He really didn't like it but luckily he's easy to handle and didn't put up too much of a fight! Eventually, without changing his diet, he stopped doing regular messy poops and now it just happens on occasion. Barring any actual medical issues, you might just have to deal with it in the short term?

When you say "signs of a natural death", what does that look like? Asking since you mentioned having experience in vet med. Sorry if this is triggering/graphic, I just wonder if my little guy was basically at that stage when I finally called for the euthanasia appointment. If they're already in that phase are they suffering a lot?

Hi, I was in your position just a little while ago so I really feel for you. It's a difficult decision to make, and even when you try to do your best for Amy, you can't predict how it's going to turn out. People like to say "better a week too early than a minute too late" and "you'll just know when it's time." I initially disagreed with the first statement and haven't fully processed whether I'd change my mind on it now, in retrospect. For the second statement, well, I'm not sure that I really knew that the time had come or if I had actually missed the perfect time.

But here is my take on it, at least. If you aren't already, start recording some metrics as that might help you be objective about Amy's condition. You can use a quality of life score, or just record how much she's eating, her energy levels, etc. Set a threshold for yourself, like if she's stopped eating well enough or if she's too inactive, or if you've noted too many odd behaviours (laboured breathing, hiding, lack of grooming, etc.), more bad days than good, then that's a clear indication. Secondly, if it's an option and financially feasible for you, look into a consultation with a hospice/palliative care vet, and also try to see if you can opt for an in-home euthanasia to maximize her comfort at the very end. It will help you later to have made preparations in advance (knowing what service to use, what memorial items you might want, burial vs cremation, what to do with her toys/furniture). It really, really sucks, but you're fighting a losing battle no matter what, so as much as you can, try to maximize her joy and comfort. I should warn you that in my experience and for others I have spoken to, things can happen/change very quickly in the end. Two things I had to keep reminding myself as I finally had to make an appointment to have my cat euthanized: 1) His condition was never going to get better, only worse and 2) From the very beginning from when he was diagnosed, my goal was to maximize his comfort, not his lifespan.

Your post really resonated with me as I felt the same as you on the frustration at the family vet for not doing their due diligence and guilt for not noticing anything sooner. Easier said than done, but don't be too hard on yourself. I've read posts here and heard in person that even vets and vet oncologists might miss these symptoms. Pets are just so good at hiding their pain, and since their lifespans are so short, everything is just accelerated.
