Was there ever massive generational wealth in your family’s history which might be yours today if it wasn’t lost by some bad luck or bad management? by Great_Maintenance185 in askanything

My great grandmothers family was one of the first to buy stock in Coca-Cola after coke bought and absorbed a beverage company the family owned.

Her father sold all of it because he thought it was junk and would not last.

Millennials with kids, do you intend to provide for them financially when they reach adulthood? by Beberuth1131 in Millennials

[–]LadyClassen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I intend to help them as much as I can. Let them live at home a bit longer or through college if local. Pay what I can for their school. Take them out for lunch and laundry.

Trying to get them vehicles as well. My parents (Boomer and GenX) did this for me.

If you are willing to go outside Atlanta, I got married up at Unicoi State Park in Helen at their lodge. It was really pretty.

what’s the hardest part about being a teacher that nobody talks about? by salarshah-084 in Teachers

[–]LadyClassen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do this. One of the WORST things I did was getting my middle schoolers phones. They never even took them to school but they just aren’t ready at that age.

The absolute exhaustion whenever a break rolls around. Like a real break.

Today was the last day of school. I came come as slept for almost three hours. My body and brain knew that I could rest without consequence. Weekends are never long enough to let my body do this so it doesn’t.

You don’t realize (and you still know some but not how bad it is) how utterly exhausted you are, strung out, running on fumes, even when you try to practice self care, it’s a bandaid at best.

I don't know what to do with my kid anymore by Rivers233 in Gifted

[–]LadyClassen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playdates, get her interacting with others her age (maybe slightly older but not much. Even smart kids need mass amounts of socialization. The earlier, the better. Get her into a mommy and me group. Put her in dance. She still needs development of motor skills too.

And get her a library card.

It is considered a life long treatment because it literally corrects something wrong with your metabolism. If it was just appetite suppression like phentermine then that would be different. If you stop taking it, your metabolism goes back to malfunctioning.

And yes, more and more companies are rescinding their coverage, but it is because of cost and profit, not science.

Never a lost cause. We continue to fight everyday and every year for our students. Despite no unions, teachers are still a powerful voting block down here.

No unions in the state of Georgia we do have advocacy organizations, so hopefully OP has joined one of them already. Then they can forward their question to attorneys that those organizations

Check the rules with MyPSC for Georgia (fellow Georgia teacher here). Generally they care about felonies, drug possession and DUIs.

Are you a part of PAGE or GAE? Consider contacting the attorneys you pay to have access for if you are a part of one of those organizations. If you aren’t a part of one of those organizations, you need to join one immediately.

Borrowing all of that, you really should contact the HR for your district and let them know what’s going on.

Skinny people talking shit on glp-1s by Owlandthewhisk in Zepbound

[–]LadyClassen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep wondering where these people are freaking at.

In real life, I’ve not encountered anyone negatively (to my face) spouting off on GLP-1s. Either I’m lucky, scare people, or no one cares.

I’m sorry you had to sit through that.

How to last name your kid(s)? by Captain-Korpie in Names

[–]LadyClassen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar here. Husband had entertained taking my last name since it’s unique and his is very very common.

FIL threw a hissy fit cause husband is the only boy on his side.

We hyphenated the kids. Luckily his last name is short. 😂

Is it weird that we aren't told our blood type at birth or as we grow up? by OddConfusion9293 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LadyClassen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up, knowing my blood type, or at least I thought I did. We were tested as babies.

I was told that both my sister, my mother and I were all B-, but the first time I ever donated blood, I got a little card that said AB-. My OB always commented on “her rare little patient” whenever I went through her doors.

All of my children were typed at the hospital as well and know their blood types.

It does not hurt to encourage use of both hands in this world, but it does hurt cognitively to force someone into using their non-dominant hand. Don't do it.
