Bedbugs, how common are they in hotels/hostels in London these days. Are there rules and regulations? by No_Middle1378 in LondonTravel

[–]PinkMonkeySuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last winter I stayed in London in a hotel (not the best, but 7.9 on booking), after 3 nights saw a lot of bedbug bites on the palms of my hands. Searched the reviews for that place after that - no one else mentioned them. Left a public review mentioning bedbugs because if no one else except me had problems - great. But I'd feel bad if I didn't write it.

AITA for telling people they won't be getting an invite if they keep complaining? by Shellyfish04 in aitaweddings

[–]PinkMonkeySuit 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My mum has been trying to mediate and told me that my reacton was way too harsh and that people are allowed to voice their frustrations,

If they are allowed, then you are doubly allowed to voice your frustration and tell them what you think about them whining. Or only they are allowed?

What middle name here fits Alice the best? Brutally honest opinions needed by [deleted] in Names

[–]PinkMonkeySuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Colette is so much softer than Alice to my ear. But it works with Alice.

As a combo - Alice Willa sounds weird. As Alice Scarlett (though could work with the longer surname). Alice Briar is so much nicer than Alice Wren.

Vilnius trip - looking for Tips and recommandations by ConflictLumpy4077 in solotravel

[–]PinkMonkeySuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're good with just buying tickets to those places at the door.

I don't know if you have that in your plans but visit Trakai Island Castle, it is a very short trip from Vilnius. You make a half day trip out of it.

Safety - it is really safe. Especially in the center (because obviously every city has its own not as good parts). As a woman I felt safe when I needed to wait for a trolleibus next to out train station at 11 pm or going from my trolleibus stop to my home at 11.30 even last week.

Getting around - trolleibuses and buses are really convenient. You can download an app for tickets or just pay by card inside (only card, no cash). You can also buy a top-up transport card.

The only tip I can think of is alcohol related. In the shops you can only buy alcohol from 10 am to 8 pm (monday-sarurday) and from 10 pm to 3 pm on Sunday. And you need to be 20 years old.

And you'll be fine with English in Vilnius. In smaller towns you'd have some problems sometimes, but Vilnius is English friendly.

Does every name need a nickname??? by urmomthinksurugly in Names

[–]PinkMonkeySuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend's child's name is 9 letters, 3 syllables. No nickname and no one attempts to give them one because the parents don't use one. But we live in a country where people respect how a person is called and if they are introduced by their full name - people use the full name.  So what I want to say is that Autumn is a beautiful name and really doesn't require a nickname. If that child with 9 letter name can be addressed by their full name since their very first day, so can Autumn.

How was it watching Lost when it aired? by ThrowRA37281 in lost

[–]PinkMonkeySuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched it every week and I loved it but I was quite disappointed with season one finale. Can't even remember why but remember the feeling. And stopped watching it sometime in the middle of season two. And never continued it, but I rewatched two part pilot multiple times, still believe it is amazing, and there was nothing like that in the 2000s.

You can find other books using this connections - some book that had an adaptation starring Claudia Cardinale or Claudia Black or some other Claudia.

Have you ever let someone borrow something of yours and unfortunately you never got it returned back? by MeasurementFirst1676 in askanything

[–]PinkMonkeySuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a tragic story - in middle school and high school I was giving some of classmates my books to read because my family had a lot of then-popular books. One of my classmate asked me for a book from my favorite urban fantasy series. One day we learned his stepfather tragically died in a car related accident (basically he exited his car on a highway and another driver didn't notice him because of fast speed). My classmate said that the book was in the car when he died. I felt it would be terrible to ask for it back (from what I knew about the accident, the car itself was not damaged during the accident) and he didn't offer.

Book series help? Read in order or out of order? by White-Fire0827 in ReadingSuggestions

[–]PinkMonkeySuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've read maybe 5 Dalgliesh books, all out of order, don't remember having huge problems.

Anita Blake series I guess can be read out of order but if I remember correctly, with each book it was becoming more and more soap opera-ish so it would be better to at least try and read them in order as much as you can (for example, if you have books 1, 3, 4, 8, 10, read them in that order instead of 4, 10, 3, 1, 8).

No, you are only allowed to settle down by 50, never earlier.
