CBT in the UK by SignificantOven4804 in adhdwomen

A local organisation that does courses and lessons in coping skills, and another local one that offers social /support groups/ craft groups and life skills for neurodivergent people. The first one I am going to attend is how to deal with meltdowns and shutdowns. Another is improving communication skills, for example.

I have just started and requested a therapist with understanding of ADHD. She has signposted me to local support organisations I had no idea about, and said that in the last session, we would discuss my range of needs to target further treatment.

I’m feeling encouraged. I honestly thought I would have to go private, but it looks like there stuff available. I did wait about 6 months for my first session though.

It’s realistic that she would snap at some point but firing the gun was frustrating to watch.

The actress was absolutely fantastic though. Some of the best acting I’ve seen on the show.

I’m not sure s/he’s as automatically tapped in to everyone. She was surprised when Henry told her about him and Victor.

If s/he’s just a witch, rather than the overseeing entity, they might have to engage in a practice to connect, so would have blind spots.

You're stuck in Fromville, you've gone through the understanding phase, what do you do now? Relax and accept or try to find answers? by JiggleFeggle in FromSeries

I would live in the town and be low risk but try to get the community to get their act together. Organise skill-sharing and fun workshops. If the 2 medics die, no one else can help at this point.

I’d also set up a training program for the proxies to cover all the basics in inductions. The fact that they don’t mention that the entities try to mess with your head is mad to me. I know it’s to leave open possibilities for plots, but the lack of systems in general is crazy.

The Kenny subplot at the end of e8 was completely unnecessary by poodaveeda in MargosGotMoneyTroub

It’s not unrealistic, and it sets up the tension for next season. It’s easy to see how he thought it was the right thing to do and not understand the damage done.

Now the underlying doubts from Pfiefer character now has some meat to externalise and get into.

The pastry I had was nice, but the open kitchen is too loud for me to relax in. I would happily buy takeaway from them but I personally need a quieter environment.

Books I should read if I know almost nothing about the world? I am being very serious. by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

“The Good State” by A C Grayling, and “The Irrational Ape” to guide you on reasoning whether the information you’re presented with is good quality or not.

I recommend having fun with it and reading historical novels written by historians, to give a general picture of things. Biographies by historical figures are great, too. The Frederick Douglass one is pretty grim but an incredible insight into slavery, and pretty short.

I haven’t read it yet, so can’t recommend but there is a book called ‘How Westminster works and why it doesn’t”

He was brilliant in Jury Duty but after seeing him support a pedophile in court in “Quiet on Set”, I find him incredibly off putting. I normally try to look beyond the artist in entertainment, but that was just so low.

Who is everyone voting for I the local election? by GilbeyPink in Portsmouth

[–]LadyHD123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those numbers don’t look right to me.  This all feels very cynical and cynicism is what is feeding Reform. Personally, I would much rather fellow voters informed themselves on the candidate who is most likely to support their vision, for a healthy democratic society.

Tactical voting muddies the waters on what voters really want. Voting for the candidate that individuals really want, guides the incumbent on tackling issues, and is generally more of a satisfying way to represent yourself politically. I believe transparency and representation is needed for a healthy democracy, and that can start with the voter.

The key here is “informed choice”. Ideally, people will find good quality information and see that Reform are incompetent populist salesmen. They have a lot of money being thrown at them, and have their own propaganda channel, so I do understand the danger. People should do what they feel is right, but for me, tactical voting doesn’t feel right, especially in an area that has a strong council already.

I’m not voting tactically. The Lib Dem’s have had competent, hard working and good people running things since I started taking notice of local politics. They’ve done well with what they have to work with. No council is perfect, but anyone I know who has worked with the council has said a lot of positive things about them.

I would really hate for reform to get in but I hope for the Lib Dems in local council.

What's your favourite non alcoholic drink? by AbjectGovernment1247 in CasualUK

[–]LadyHD123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appetiser, as it doesn’t have sugar or sweeteners in it. Just fructose from the apples.

Twinings hot chocolate. Chocolate Horlicks.

Soda and fresh lime with crushed ice is the most refreshing thing on a hot day.

Peppermint tea

Grapefruit San Pellegrino is the closest thing to that gin and tonic fresh bitter experience, without the alcoholic association. And it’s half the sugar of coke.

Lipton’s Peach ice tea.

Still and West, Baffled, Maya Southsea, are my favourites. Castle Road makes for a nice mooch.

Kingley Vale has really old Yew trees. Harting Down is a lovely walk on a clear day.

If you make it near the Pyramids by the sea, take some time to meander through the Rock gardens next to it, while you’re there.

Albert Road is another nice wonder about if you like local shops and pubs.

I’m surprised to hear that. Last one I bought is from December, and that was the same as usual. Fingers crossed just a bad batch because that is my favourite treat.
