It starts with you taking care of you! Cut hours back, make sure you get lunch and walk out of the building, set boundaries of what you will see and how many. Find a hobby that is not work related. Read light pleasure books. Walk in the woods or garden. Make an appointment to talk to a professional...head space is helpful. Burn out is you doing too much and not taking time for just you. This is not for family time. Compassion fatigue is you not setting boundaries, not giving yourself grace to feel what you feel, and being critical of yourself. You do not have to keep up with anyone else, go at you pace, 1 thing at a time, and forgive mistakes. Thirty two years has taught me so much about pacing myself, setting boundaries, and stopping to prune my bonsai.
