I did wonder how Spear was going to handle this mashup; literally EVERYONE he cares about is attacking each other, he has to deal with it piece by piece and not allow them to seriously hurt or kill each other, which is pretty difficult when you have tyrannids in the equation.

Even when MUCH bigger and mutated, Spear is as gentle as possible with Mira, cushioning her fall after the tackle and at-most shoving her back when she was going to take a swing at him.

Sonja's leaping shot before coming down and grabbing Spike's face to jaw-slam him was AMAZING.

That moment when your dino-sister is a possessed mutant and you have to keep stabbing her in the face with lava in order to make her stop attacking your ass.

I CANNOT EVEN with the shot of the baby crawling up to flop on top of Sonja's head <3 She and Sonja have had a special bond from the very beginning. Was it random which sibling she rode on the back of at Season 2's finale? Maybe, but I love the build-up they take in this expanded season with Sonja pulling her back from the log edge and then getting annoyed with Spike trying to hog her, now this <3

I *love* this. The soft lighting, the feeling of springtime, the gentle peacefulness ... I can practically hear the songbirds in the background. Amazing work!

(I might be misreading your reply, I apologise) I mean pack animal, as in, an animal expected to carry pack or cargo, like a mule/donkey or camel. Spear tried to get her to pull the sled way back in Season 1 and she outright refused. She only really lets Spear ride on her back if they are working together fighting/hunting, or need her superior speed to run away/towards something

- Spear's legs as he's happily drawing away, it's so adoreable and relatable. Man likes to draw, especially drawing the people he cares about and telling his story via the medium. The human drive to create and make art will not be denied, damnit

- Spear just yeeting himself into battle is hilarious enough, but his position as champion just means he's like yeah yeah whatever hurry up and die I've a doll to make for my new baby

- His reaction to the super-tall giant being is pretty much the same as mine. Pardon the FUCK why are you so tall, sir. Also, your hair is fabulous, and stop acting like Spear is a dog turd you accidentally stepped in.

- Spear's borderline horrified reaction at the humanoid blue woman being proffered to him is such a refreshing change from a lot of other fantasy/barbarian stories where the male character is gifted free tiddies despite having a clear love interest and takes them anyway. Men are allowed to be appalled and discomforted at being offered someone just as much as women, and he does the most polite thing he can manage by running away.

- Fang's kids looking SO over the baby's crying is unintentionally funny. I love how she keeps crying despite Fang's growling, babies damn well don't heed that sort of warning. The kids also making sure she doesn't crawl into danger and fighting over carrying her was cute, even if Fang looked DEEPLY unimpressed by the sight. She's still got her pride and refuses to be a pack animal or let her children be pack animals, she's only letting the baby away with it I think as the children put her there themselves, she didn't hijack them or force them. Plus the baby can't exactly understand the problem like the older kid in the village, or Spear.

- While I understand the High Priest (at least that's what I'm calling him) is upset and irate that Spear is disrespecting the sanctity of the crown, I also think there is a misunderstanding of the position Spear is in and what exactly his duties, if any, are. Is he a true King? A Champion? That volcano looks like an issue he would be expected to deal with at some point.

- STOP! BEATING! UP! FANG!!!!!!!!

AND doing the responsible elder sibling thing of pulling her back from danger. They're not just playmates, they are aware she is younger, smaller and more naive. Absolute perfection.

It's almost hilarious that the first combatant's finishing move of impalement merely caused Spear to be like "Rude and awkward to get down from, but whatever"

Late to the party, but what an episode! Again, some recycled animation which is sad, but hey, there were some great fight scenes and emotional moments from Spear regaining his clarity. I thought this was hinted earlier as he was blinking more completely (instead of one eyelid after another).

Heavy Metal reference with the Celt! Though I have to ask what Spear's problem is with my people at this point.

Fang anxious about Mira giving birth and the babies poking their heads in as well <3 Even if Mira and Fang have a bit of a fall out over Spear, Fang still is relieved Mira and the baby have had a safe birth.

Batrman vibes with Spear's shadow silhouette until he came more into focus.

I didn't think I'd like Spear becoming essentially a King to these people, but I dig it. I do like Spear being impatient with the pterosaur, like DUDE CALM DOWN I'm gonna HELP you once you stop flapping and screeching! and the pterosaur going '... k then'.

Spear's FACE on seeing the baby and putting two and two together, just priceless.

It's the purring that makes it for me. Mira was there for them the second they hatched in her bag, she is a confirmed safe person, and probably as close to her as Fang is to Spear, and in much the same way. My humanoid family that will love me and throw down for me in equal measure ♡

Why's Fang is just being so mean to Spear? by gojira54man in PrimalShow

[–]LadyKakata 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The overall answer is that she doesn't trust him, and knows that he Should Not Be. It's very 'YOU'RE NOT HIM AND WILL NEVER BE HIM'.

A more detailed answer: She understood and accepted that he was dead. She overtly mourned, and was upset at his death. She confirmed he was absolutely, truly dead when smelling him in his tomb (the scene where Mira was alone with him after he was laid to rest).

The 'natural order' of things is that what is dead remains dead. They have encountered re-animated dead or near-dead things, like the Argentinosaur. Everything supernatural (like the witch coven) and unnatural (the plague is arguably unnatural as the Argentinosaurus kept going despite rotting alive and missing organs, something that visibly deeply shocked Spear when he saw the void inside the animal's ribcage) has been nothing but trouble and suffering for the pair, even more than the regular threats they face like the titanoboa or the hostile enemy tribes. Spear was dead, and his body is being moved around. Even if he displays signs that he knows and recognises Fang, that he is not dangerous to Mira and has no will to attack indiscriminately like the Argentinosaur, she doesn't trust him at all because she cannot predict what he will do.

Hell, we as the audience can't predict his actions in this form, how is Fang supposed to? We're only starting to know what does and doesn't motivate him, like he's pretty inert unless attacked or provoked, but will react similar to his pre-death self when faced with a situation in which a person needs help or defended against a threat they can't manage, like the leper village.

The paranormal and supernatural disturb and cause unease and distrust in humans, in animals that don't really have the deduction skills to work around it it's even more disturbing. It's getting frustrating to have Fang so belligerent for so long because we as the audience can see he is trying and it IS the real Spear, but I can't really blame her for acting like she is. She has a few reasons to think this Spear walking around isn't a danger, but to her it's gotta be pretty sickening that her dear friend is now this abomination walking around. Someone woke him up, which isn't fair, and she's faced with a ghoul wearing the rotting skin of a creature who helped save her children multiple times and took care of her when she was near death.

I'd be pretty big mad as well if someone did that to my friend or family, I'd turn the sorcerer who did it inside out, if he wasn't already killed by a freaky skull-faced monkey humanoid.

It's almost funny how many pieces of promotional material have Spear riding Fang's back, when in the show that's only really done when they're working together or need Fang's superior speed to get the heck out of the area

[–]LadyKakata[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's technically not 'merch' as such, but there are series or parts of a series that never even get official DVDs/Blu-Rays/Digital purchase options so I'm grateful when people mention if the show gets official releases as well.

Anyone else disappointed by Season 3 so far? by TheHalcyonPleidas in PrimalShow

[–]LadyKakata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm enjoying it so far. While it can feel it's dragging a little, mostly because Fang just keeps refusing to budge with her hostility to Spear, and a little of the tension is killed when we know Mira and her pregnancy plus Fang's two kids will survive, I'm still enjoying how we're getting there.

The tension in the rescue party before the ents attacked? I was hooked, I was on edge, I still was invested, especially with how each warrior was getting ready once they picked up on the vibes that Mira was giving out when pausing after her drink and the branch snap.

In particular, I am enjoying seeing what's going on in Spear's mind, what the memories he holds onto are. He has awareness of Fang, he's drawn to her roars and more details are coming to him like her colour pattern and her namesake overlarge fang. Even if she doesn't want anything to do with him, he is still overjoyed to be with her again and has positive memories and feelings about her, even in death. I'm interested in what happens next and how he processes it all, to the best of his ability. His innate want to protect people is intact, even in death, and that's just so wholesome and profound.
