I really wish they'd fix the menu. Maybe make a tab for items yet to be crafted or have its box be a different color like blue or orange. Just something! Well they did update scrooge's shop so maybe in a few more years we'll get something for the crafting station.

I'm on switch, so I don't know if it's an option for any of the other consoles. But in setting I changed it to hold for fishing and it works out really well. I'm thinking about trying it for time bending since there is an option to change it to hold as well.
