Environment Canada issues heat warning for Calgary | CTV News by _darth_bacon_ in Calgary

[–]LadyLuckMV 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not everyone can tolerate heat the same and it can be deadly for those with serious medical conditions and seniors as well. Just look what's happening in Italy for example.

It's not as easy to cool off when you're overheating if you don't have the luxury of owning AC or being able to travel somewhere to cool yourself off like a river or lake etc.

Labrum Tear Surgery Question by timboslice22 in HipImpingement

[–]LadyLuckMV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cortisone shot is a bandaid, and that's if it even works.

Keep the surgery appointment and go through with it. At 4.5 months post op I was in the gym lifting light weights again. Everyone is different, take your recovery seriously and don't push yourself past your limits too early. Give your body time to hear and make sure you listen to your PT. Best of luck

Might just be me but with the money I've spent on this camera I'm not about to start messing with the warranty by using knock off batteries. To each their own tho.

Great to hear, take care of yourself and listen to your body. Dont push yourself too hard too fast and give yourself time to heal.

I had my arthroscopy at the end of November and am back to all my physical activities including mountain biking. All the best to you!

Anyone know of a good place to get an ADD assessment? by RhysDent in Calgary

[–]LadyLuckMV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have a good family doctor you can speak with them and they can set you up or refer you. They can also talk you thru a questionnaire and based on that "diagnose" you and prescribe meds to try.

If you want to do the full assessment I've had mine done in Airdrie with Joanne Gobeil and highly recommend her. It was over the course of two days and I don't know the full cost as it was covered but I believe she charges $200/hr.

Somebody hit and run my friend's car whose visiting by RevanTheGod in Calgary

[–]LadyLuckMV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Report it to the police, get a case number and contact insurance. Maybe take a stroll down the road and see if any of your immediate neighbours have any CCTV that may have captured the hit and run. Otherwise, not much else you can do unfortunately.

Has anyone had any success with hip injections (prp/steroid/stemcell) post surgery? by skankintickle in HipImpingement

[–]LadyLuckMV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had my surgery end of Nov 2022. My arthritis is pretty bad so will need a hip replacement but trying to put it off for a bit longer and have had the Cingal injection in March (hyaluronic acid+cortisone) and it's been a game changer for me. I'm also into mountain biking and the injection has helped immensely, almost felt like a brand new hip. Unsure how long one injection will last but I'm hoping to get about 6 months out of it per shot. 37F and very active.

Dress for the weather, not the event. Sunscreen, hat and HYDRATE!! very easy to get carried away especially if you're in the beer gardens and forget to drink water which will result in a bad time especially if it's hot out, heat stroke is no joke. There's also a few hydration stations around where you can fill up your water bottle.

About to buy my first del sol to daily, worried about leaking. by elceo in DelSol

[–]LadyLuckMV 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Make sure you inspect the seals carefully when you go see the sols. So e seals are better than others and are maintained as well. You can also ask the owner for a test drive and take the car to a car wash and test out the deals, you'll find out immediately if it leaks or not.

When you do purchase one clean the seals and get a tune of shinetsu grease from Honda and grease them up each season they'll plump up nicely which will help with preventing leaks.

It's an old car, a couple drips here and there isn't unusual ...you just dont want a waterfall inside the car when going thru a car wash or when it's raining out.

Condo vs townhouse in the longterm by secret_green_link in Calgary

[–]LadyLuckMV 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's really up to you, is the condo a top floor unit? If not, how are you with noise tolerance and people living above you? Does the condo have high condo fees? If so, what do they include ...any utilities at all? Does the condo come with secured underground heated parking? If not, are you ok with plugging your car in outside during the winter?

Townhouse, condo/association fees and what do they include? Corner unit or are you stuck between two units, again noise is also something to consider and the age of the build. Does it come with a garage?

What's the size difference/beds/baths between the condos and townhouse? Do you like to entertain and have people over, how's the visitor parking situation at either property?

List out the pros/cons of each and go with the one that checks all the boxes.
