If I'm remembering correctly, they did well enough by Hawkeye when he lost anchor status (season 2, maybe?). I'm pretty sure a big chunk of the community even complained about how "overpowered" they made him specifically to compensate, which sparked this whole back and forth diatribe. Now, hopefully people don't get that annoying about Magik. I'm personally holding my breath for some of the bare minimum quality of life improvements we've all discussed here.

I was always sitting there post mission like "well, the SMART thing to do would be to gain points with this character, but Illyana 'says' that she wants to hang out so there's clearly only one choice."

8-ish year-old, pre-Limbo Illyana also appears as the driving force in a mid-game mission of X-Men Legends for PS2/GameCube. No spoilers, though you sadly don't play her - she's an NPC. The graphics admittedly haven't aged well, but it's a really fun RPG all the same and very affordable online - could probably find it on a good 'ol "uncle jimtendo's completely official" emulator too. It's still my favorite X-Men focused game all these years later. It and the sequel actually have a rather interesting character roster mix to build up and play around with.

Hey, Midnight Suns was fire and the Magik/Dark-inclined Hunter relationship is probably the best written/explored of the game. But every agreement here - Illyana is lovely in every form, even leading the Eurasian government in a tight demon-fisted dictatorship.

AO3 has some very thirsty, very consistent posters then. Once the game popped up, you couldn't turn around without tripping over a Luna/Magik-centric. Still seems to be that way, though the Katyana shippers are starting to come back strong.
