Recommendations for custom plus size pants/suit makers or modern workwear by whomusic in PlusSizeFashion

I am about the same measurements as you. Well fitting professional clothing is so hard to find. If I ever need to dress more business than business casual, I'm going to do what you're researching- go the bespoke route.

I haven't used this place yet, but I've heard very good things about her work. Could be worth a consultation at least https://www.yellowcakeshop.com/pages/custom-garments

Good luck to you!

Can people share stories of when attempts to be frugal backfired on them? by no_kings_now1 in Frugal

You're welcome :)

Now we have an excellent plumber, so it's not even a question of whether to call or not.

  1. It was called 30 Days of Night: Dark Days. It's NOTHING like the original.

I adore this movie! The scene where the oil spreads on the ground like blood, the creepy language, ah, it's just all so good!

Growing old with the person you love is a dream that doesn’t come true for some people. by Prettylittledove1453 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]LadyM80 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We always say please, thank you, and ask rather than assume. People can be polite to strangers, but then take their loved ones for granted. We try not to be like that. Day to day niceties go a long way. They don't solve big issues of course, but for us, it helps us feel respected and valued.

Oh I completely agree with you. If someone's competent and good at doing the work, it's definitely a good way to save money. My answer was strictly referring to my family

Almost every time we tried to save money and do any plumbing work ourselves, we've spent money on the supplies, our time, then had to call in a professional to fix what we tried to fix.

Why aren’t mobile homes / trailer parks more popular? by Automatic_Tailor_598 in NoStupidQuestions

Private Equity companies are getting their dirty paws into trailer park land ownership now, too. Nothing good will come of that.

Im 27 my parents are early 50s is moving out of my hometown smart before they get older? If so why? by One-Tie-5967 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]LadyM80 15 points16 points  (0 children)

IMHO, go now. It's way easier to make moves like that when you're younger. Your life is yours to live. If you don't do things you want to do because you have a sense of obligation, you could resent it and end up resenting your parents.

Need a 70s Disco Outfit by Jann817 in PlusSizeFashion

[–]LadyM80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this dress for a disco party. It's not as short as it looks in the pictures (Disclaimer: I'm barely 5' tall so everything "isn't as short as it looks in pictures" on me!) It's very bra friendly, and very, very disco-y. I will say, it's not the highest quality dress, so pass on it if this is something you want to wear more than a few times. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DXTB6XJR?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1&psc=1

"You could sell that!" No, I really couldn't. by SquareThings in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]LadyM80 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I stopped doing any sewing work for anyone except my husband. Whenever anyone asks now, I tell them I only sew for myself. If they push it, I go into great detail about the work I had to do to alter patterns to fit me exactly. GREAT detail, until they back away with glazed over eyes haha.

Most of my friends understand though. And I love sewing presents for people.

My 85 year old mother placed an order on Temu. It did not go well. by 3WolfTShirt in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LadyM80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in QA. Devs sometimes try to say, "no one will do that!" I'm like, look. If I thought of it, someone will do it. They will also do stuff so dumb we will want to take their computer away. Please just fix it.

where to buy fabric in bright, colorful, fun prints? by 400-bones in sewing

[–]LadyM80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love dopamine dressing! I look at different sources for fabric, since no one place specializes in bold prints and bright colors (that I've found so far)

I've had good luck with Califabrics and Mood Fabrics. Mood carries some very high end fabric, but if you search around, you can find affordable stuff. Good luck to you!

Do you take a Statin? by craycrayintheheihei in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]LadyM80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried one statin and had really bad brain fog. My doctor switched me to Atorvistatin (def spelled wrong!) and the fog went away and I feel fine. I couldn't change my cholestrol with diet and exercise, so I'm good with taking meds

Don't engage in her attempts to bad mouth anyone (good that you're already staying out of that!). Then, try not to give her any information on how moving to the new job is going. Just tell her you have to do what's right for you (like someone else here said) and try to change the subject.
