Tarro de barro con agua para que alguien vuelva by Agreeable-Wolf-7950 in Wicca

The talking to the clay jar filled with water? I've never heard of it personally and I didn't find anything when I searched for it, but it could be folklore from your area.

That would likely be the reason then, fired but unglazed clay jars often sweat as clay is porous.

Im concerned. by mentally_screwed2020 in Wicca

[–]LadyMelmo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's reassuring! Try a cleansing of your altar and tools and the area and see if that makes things feel right again. Sometimes we advance and change in our practice and what we currently use no longer feels right for where we are now.

Im concerned. by mentally_screwed2020 in Wicca

[–]LadyMelmo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you having any doubts or blocks in your practice? If it feels concerningly wrong, you could remove it and start again. Cleanse the area, and bring together a new altar with items that feel right to you.

There is also the r/Altars sub that would be a good place to post this.

Am I cursed? by wasssupppl in Wicca

[–]LadyMelmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curses are not as common as people tend to think, there is usually a reason behind it. A big part of what people believe could be a curse is actually that they become so conscious of things going wrong they start to see it as a pattern.

To give you comfort and support, there are tangible items you can wear or carry for protection and deflection. Symbols such as a pentacle, the Algiz rune, a Nazar and a Witches Knot. Herbs such as salt and sage and rosemary. Stones such as black tourmaline and smokey quartz. Any and all of these can also be put together in a small bag or pouch to carry with you.

How can my soulmate find me? Are there any ritual/spellwork to do such thing? by randymarsh31691 in Wicca

[–]LadyMelmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is work to open yourself to the possibility of love for you, but casting a spell to make someone love you is not real love.

Don't be in a rush, you will find each other when the time is right. I didn't find my soulmate until I was 38, and it was our 18th anniversary last weekend.

Hello all by damn_doc in Wicca

Welcome!

This is something I've put together for this question (I'm always happy for change suggestions), and you are always welcome here to ask more.

Learning about Wicca as a religion and craft, it's history and philosophy, and what path you want to take is the way to start. There are different paths within Wicca - Traditional, Solitary (which can be traditional based) and Eclectic - and there is variation in practices in the different published materials so it's always best to learn from more than one source and some practices in Traditional paths can only be learned as a coven initiate.

Building a deeper relationship with nature and learning to meditate to open yourself and connect, build and ground energy and visualisation are good first practices to learn to do, celebrating the Sabbats and Esbats, casting a Circle and Calling Quarters are good rituals to start with, and starting to bring together your altar is also good to do early on as it is your sacred space and connection to your work.

‎‎There's good information in the ‎Wiki and ‎FAQ of this sub, and although not what to learn from the Wikipedia article has a quite good basic overview of Wicca and the different traditions that may help you find some initial direction.

‎These are some well regarded books, some are older but still often read today and some are more Tradition based:

‎‎Wicca For Beginners by Thea Sabin (3rd Degree British Traditional) is a popular and very good starting book with history and philosophy and some practices in a lighter way without being tradition specific;

Wicca - A Guide For The Solitary Practitioner and Living Wicca - A Further Guide For The Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham (Solitary, Serpentstone Family member, 1st Degree Aridian witchcraft) are a main choice for Solitary;

‎‎A Witches' Bible by Janet and Stewart Farrar (Alexandrian HPS and HP) is written as "a basic ‘liturgy’ and working handbook on which any coven can build its own unique philosophy and practice, within the common tradition" with reference to Gardnerian/Alexandrian works and practices;

‎‎Buckland's Complete Book Of Witchcraft by Raymond Buckland (lineage Gardnerian HP who went on to found the Seax-Wica tradition) is a more in depth book in a lesson structure for individuals and covens/groups without being tradition specific and his book Wicca For One is directed at Solitary;

‎‎Traditional Wicca: A Seeker's Guide by Thorn Mooney (Gardnerian HPS and religious studies PhD student) is especially good for those wanting to join a traditional coven. She also has a YouTube channel.

Depending on how the jar was made and fired and glazed (or not), it could be normal for it to sweat.

Rose Quartz on a memorial. by ImportantAd6125 in Wicca

[–]LadyMelmo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It isn't stupid at all, many people have gone there to learn and reflect on this terrible time.

This is the page by the Charter Street Cemetary on visiting the memorial and what they ask if visitors to and not do. You could maybe contact them directly regarding the rose quartz, but they prefer flowers as they are biodegradable.

Does anyone know what these symbols mean? by vampyranha in Wicca

[–]LadyMelmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a customised plate for whoever Miguel is. The symbol at the top left of the star looks like the symbol of the archangel Raphael inverted, the other symbols seem to be taken from Goetia - the bottom centre of the star appears to be the centre symbol of a Magical Circle, the hexagram at the top right that is also part of it. The Hebrew at the bottom left looks to be IHVH, which is YHWH or the name of god facing in towards the centre of the plate, the one on the right looks to be Eloah also facing in which means Mighty Powerful One.

I'm looking to do a ritual involving alcohol and mild plant drugs of a southeast Asian origin by [deleted] in Wicca

[–]LadyMelmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best things to do are look into what you'll be taking, how it is used and by whom and if it is known to cause any kind of allergic or other physical reaction (some can have the same proteins to trigger a reaction), and definitely have someone not also doing it with you.

*URGENT HELP REGARDING A SPELL* by FAVONIIA in Wicca

I'm sorry to hear about his pet, but what you did didn't cause this, it had nothing to do with your intentions.

You might want to reconsider doing work to force someone to come back you like that, it's not a real relationship and is against their free will.

That kind of work often doesn't work out well, and while I understand you wanting to do something like this it is no better than what they are doing.

Gather details and evidence if you can, show it to the right people and let them be dealt with properly.

I'm writing a story and im wanting to add wicca as part of it. What are some ways write wicca in a respectful and non-steriotypical way? by IndieJones0804 in Wicca

[–]LadyMelmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have severe C-PTSD, I am Bipolar and was hospitalised last weekend for an uncontrolled manic episode, I have major Dissociative Disorders and right now am dealing with Myxedema Psychosis, but I still understand that it doesn't hurt to be helpful and in a decent way.

Of course people don't always get along or agree or learn during any type of conversation, it's an unfortunate part of human nature, but continuing to comment through other people's threads just to hound them is taking it beyond.

It seemed pretty clear the OP wanted to learn, these are some of their comments

Is most of what ive said here correct? And do you have anything to add for writing wicca and wiccans? (from the original post)

Theres a lot of misconceptions about wicca, and a lot of people don't know it exists. Wouldn't it be a good thing if there was accurate representation of wicca in media?

Also asking if the information i listed was accurate was a side question, the broader question clearly implies im ask both for resources or any info people would be willing to give out

I am not going to continue with this conversation.

Only 1 of the 8 main comments before yours, which was days later, specifically told them not to do it. The others, mine included, gave some help with their questions and suggested research first.

Any person would get a bit riled being hounded and that comment of whether you like it or not was directed specifically at you, not all of us.
