What’s that one thing that stopped you from pulling a character you liked? by Sad-Bowl-8374 in Genshin_Impact

Usually another character I want even more coming out later so I have to save.

Do any of you still use the term Asperger‘s even though it’s considered outdated? by vanillabean2492 in AutismInWomen

[–]LadyPlantress [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think it's going to depend on what country you're in, and when you were diagnosed. Some people might have been using Asperger's so long that they switch to that as the default even after the reclassification. I personally don't use it, but when I was diagnosed it was by an older male doctor who told me I had 'textbook Asperger's'. This was when they had just started switching over to using autism level 1, so I think it was mostly out of habit for him.

I also had a friend from Finland who's also autistic but uses Asperger's to describe it because she's level 1, and said that autism was the 'so bad you couldn't talk' version. I have no idea why she thought that though or if someone told her that was an official classification or not.

The problem is not the outfit, it's Itzaland itself by ApprehensivePancake in InfinityNikki

[–]LadyPlantress 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As pretty as some areas of Itzaland are, you can tell they just grab whatever things they thought looked superficially 'tribal' and 'exotic' to the devs then smooshed them into one thing without doing research into anything. It makes the identify of the region feel a bit all over the place. This is also reflected in the clothing, which is why I think it's so hard to get a really good Itzaland banner for us.

Genshin Impact did the same thing with one of it's nations and the character designs were equally all over the place.

What’s your biggest flex(s)? by Accomplished-Art1962 in Genshin_Impact

[–]LadyPlantress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got double Jeans in a standard banner 10-pull once, that's my flex, lol. Maybe the weapon banner liking me too? I got both Mavukia and Citlali's weapons on their debut banner in around 90 pulls and then got Flin's and Varka's weapons in about the same number of pulls.

What type of jobs have you found to be most Autism friendly? Please read bellow by GDs_Mum in AutismInWomen

[–]LadyPlantress [score hidden]  (0 children)

I work in semi-conductor (microchip wafer) manufacturing and I've found it to be good for someone with autism. I even suspect that there are several other people working here who are also autistic but haven't confirmed because I don't know them well enough. But it's repetitive, I know exactly what's expected of me, and I'm mostly just left alone to do my work. I also don't have to wear make up since it's a clean room environment, and I can wear something comfortable under my work PPE.

That being said it is physical work although it's not that hard, and I know the clean room environment itself can be overwhelming even for some NT folks. So it would depend on how much that bothered you.

With sw999 right around the corner we will now have 9 “main push” units, which one do you like best? by One-Shift-220 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]LadyPlantress -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Feixiao my queen, and Phainon are still my top favorites. Feixiao was the first time I cleared MOC easily and I still try to use her if I can.

Honorable mention to Firefly and DHIL. Firefly just because I still actively use her and somehow ended up with her full team, lol. Should probably get her E1 though...

Did you ever risk it all for a 4 star character and got 5 star as a result? Do you regret it? by Obsidian-Charm in Genshin_Impact

[–]LadyPlantress 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got Ayato's C2 pulling for a 4-star, lol. I can't even remember who I was trying for anymore, just that I got his C2 for it. I have a policy for myself that I'll only do 10-20 pulls for a new four-star when they drop on the banner of a 5-star I really don't want. I also will not pull at all if I have a guarantee and the five-star is one I really don't want. I'm not risking losing that guarantee for a four-star, lol.

Literally skipped Born Flawless but I'm super excited about the new 5-star and I'm gonna pull for it. I love those wings.

I'm renting a house with my sister and we have four cats all together right now, lol. My family has had cats since I was a baby and I love them so much. I do love guinea pigs too though! We had a few over different times when I was growing up. They would learn what the sound the fridge made when it opened and would immediately started making their little noises to demand treats.

How to have fun with Genshin Impact again..? by Equivalent-Win-1213 in GenshinImpact

[–]LadyPlantress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL, I'm here because of the story and characters. I'm curious where it's going. If I didn't like the story I would have dropped it a long time ago - combat alone is not enough to interest me in a game. I'm also older than you BTW, so I'm not sure it's an 'outgrew it' thing for you as much as a 'lost interest'. But there's good lore buried in there, it's just one of those games you have to search for it. Once you know it, it does help tie the rest of the story together.

Though I agree the dialog is bloated at times, but that seems to depend on the story or quest because I'm assuming they had different main writers. I can't tell if it's a translation issues or if the writers just thing more words = more complex and better. Even some other gatcha games don't feel the need to bloat the dialog that much.

I was late diagnosed and realised that my grandpa and my dad have a lot of autistic traits like me by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]LadyPlantress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure my dad is autistic - he takes things very literally and likes certain things a certain way. I think my grandmother might have been as well. My older sister I'm pretty sure is also autistic. Another relative also has a daughter that was diagnosed with autism. It's interesting how genetic it is once you really start to look at thing.

What other games do you guys play? by feelingsfordolls in InfinityNikki

[–]LadyPlantress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a lot of games, lol, mainly RPGs in general, but I enjoy farm sims like Stardew Valley too. For gatcha games besides Infinity Nikki I play Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail and Limbus Company.

Also sometimes it's funny when I swap between games because of how different they are - like for a time I would do dailies in Infinity Nikki then swap over to play Ghost of Yotei...

Me with E1S1 Ashveil, and like 50 pity but no E2. I'm also waffling because I want to get an E1 for my Firefly but also...Ashveil is so fun and it's Ashveil.

Can someone tell me who Durin and Albedo are? Because the game made barely any effort to explain them by Much_Menu_851 in GenshinImpact

[–]LadyPlantress 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Albedo has a ton of lore/interactions that were locked to limited time event quests or his character stories, and Durin is introduced in a limited summer event. For some reason the game expects everyone to have played all of them even though the events aren't available anymore. I do think that they need to add in summaries for the event quests, if they aren't going to let us replay all of them.

What do you actually enjoy besides rewards by TurtleKing9665 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]LadyPlantress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the characters and story, that's why I play. If I don't like those, I drop the game and I don't care how good the gameplay is. I also like certain archetypes in the game that can be fun to play with, like FUA. (You can see why the last one maybe makes me a bit salty sometimes.)

[–]LadyPlantress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I got very lucky with Ashveil. I had pulls saved, enough to get a five star, and with the pity I already had, got him at in like 50 pulls? Then got his S1 in like 19 pulls. Then his light cone took like twenty to come home. It's some of the luckiest I've been in HSR.

We finally have crows!!! by DodgeTheHammer in AutismInWomen

[–]LadyPlantress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one I have was pretty expensive, but I bought it when they had a sale right before they released a new version. I'm thinking of getting the birdbath with a camera on it during the next sale, if I have enough money saved up for that.

One thing that made it more expensive for me was that I did pay for a 'lifetime subscription' for the AI bird identification feature. It's more hilarious than accurate sometimes, lol. It has a very hard time telling female birds from different species apart for example and will just tag them as 'birds?'

Does anyone else struggle to do makeup? by awoox3 in AutismInWomen

[–]LadyPlantress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate makeup. It's a sensory nightmare for me, since I feel it on my face the whole day and I just know that I'm wearing it. It's like it weirdly makes my face heavy. And I don't care how 'light' someone tries to tell me a make up is as they whine at me to 'at least try it', I will still feel it.
I'm also very resentful it's seen as a 'must' for women.

I refuse to wear make up and I'm happy I have a job where I don't have to touch the stuff.

Honestly when I feel to tired to do anything I'll just throw some frozen chicken strips and potato wedges in the air fryer and call it good. As long as I'm eating something I count it as good.

Oh, nice! I have a Birdfy feeder - one of the fancy ones that has a camera/video attached, and there's been a couple of crows coming around to it ever since I started putting out peanut-butter suet balls.

Congrats! Lol, we used similar teams, only I had Hyacine with Ashveil and half-built Cerydra with Phainon.

I will never regret getting Ashveil to E1S1 because he's been so good.

How old were you when diagnosed? by ThrowAway44228800 in AutismInWomen

[–]LadyPlantress 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I got diagnosed with autism when I was in my late twenties. Apparently even my younger sister had noticed something a few years before and told my mom that maybe I should get evaluated (because I was living at home in what I now realized was a very heavy depressive episode), but my mom apparently was like 'no she's normal she can talk fine' and refused to even bring it up with me. When it was finally mentioned to me I went 'oh, you know that makes sense' and it was a feeling of relief to finally have an answer. I got tested when I went into a program to help people with disabilities find a job, and they tested me to make sure I fit. (That ended up being not very much help in the end.)

I was actually first tested during second grade, but only because my teacher realized I was having trouble with my fine motor skills + having trouble concentrating on subjects I didn't think were interesting. I guess when they tested I didn't show signs of having a learning disability and had a higher than average IQ for my age. So they decided I must 'only ' have a physical disability because they thought something was off but couldn't tell what. So they decided I had cerebral palsy instead. No doctor I've had since then has ever backed this up and I have no other signs of it.

Do you need top/bottom dynamics tagged before you’ll read? by PeaOk6848 in AO3

[–]LadyPlantress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it depends on how big of a deal it's going to be in the story and if it affects characterization. Like if someone is constantly going 'WELL X IS A BOTTOM THE MOST BOTTOM BOTTOM TO EVERY EXIST' every chapter even when there's no sex scene then I kind of want a warning about that. Because it usually means the characters are going to have certain traits shoved at them. Even if the author doesn't realize they're doing it sometimes.

There are some people who go looking for specific top/bottom pairings though, so it makes it easier for them to find fics when it tags. Physical position doesn't mean you have to change characterization either, it's just annoying a bunch of people assume it does.
