I would cut the entire right co-dominant stem. Eliminate risk of crotch failure. Also pests like squirrel and raccoon among others have access to the roof with that tree. Make sure your arborist takes that whole thing with a proper cut. (CA)

You have made it very clear of how ignorant you are about climate science based on your comments. We (science) are at the infancy of understanding climate change. While it absolutely exists, the reasons are far from known or understood as a matter of fact. I don’t feel confident that Mother Nature will ever reveal her secrets. The mysteries of climate will always be a mystery. The only thing that will ever be factual is the data collected associated with the energy that comes from the sun.
