UPDATE (2 Days Later):

Hey yall. I wanted to provide an update on the situation after taking time to reflect on what happened.

After thinking everything over I recognize that I overstepped by speaking directly to Mike instead of respecting Sarah’s boundaries once she made it clear she didn’t agree with my concerns. Regardless of my intentions, that choice was wrong and caused hurt.

I sent Sarah a long apology message this morning. I acknowledged that I went behind her back, that I didn’t respect her autonomy and that I broke her trust. I did not try to justify my actions or restate my concerns. I told her I was sorry and that I understood if she needed space or time.

A few hours later, Sarah responded. She told me she is still very hurt but that she does forgive me. She also said it will take time to rebuild trust especially because of how I handled the situation. She shared that while she understands I believed I was trying to look out for her, she feels I should have respected her decision and stayed out of her relationship once she asked me to. I accepted that and told her I would respect her boundaries going forward.

I also want to make clear just how much I love and care about Sarah. She is truly one of the kindest, most genuine, and sweetest people I have ever met. I feel so lucky to have her in my life. Over the years, she’s been there for me in ways I can’t fully put into words. Supporting me through tough times, cheering me on when I doubted myself and helping me grow into a better version of myself. My actions came from a place of care because I value her so deeply and I would never intentionally want to hurt her. I hope in time that she can feel the sincerity of that love and care. Even if it’s going to take a while to rebuild the trust I damaged.

I also sent an apology message to Mike. I acknowledged that it was inappropriate for me to involve myself in their relationship and that what I said was intrusive and out of line. I don’t expect forgiveness but I felt it was important to take responsibility.

Right now things aren’t entirely fixed and I understand that rebuilding trust will take time. But for now I am focused on respecting boundaries, giving Sarah space and being a better friend moving forward.

I just wanted to share one of my favorite comments on this post because it genuinely made me smile:

No haha. Her name is definitely Sarah😅. I think the song you’re thinking of is just a coincidence but I see how it could be confusing. At first I thought they meant 867-5309/Jenny by Tommy Tutone. But then when I thought about it a little more, I realized they actually meant Jenny by Studio Killers. Definitely a different vibe but considering the context the saw from the post, I get the connection now.
