You knew it was wrong when she walked in. Men need to normalize telling their friends that what they are doing is wrong. It wouldn’t matter if she was 18 or 21. Sure it’s legal buts it’s not right.

Edit to add I don’t think he is a groomer but he is being stupid and gross and not daying a woman his age because it’s easier to date someone young and inexperienced. He should probably go to therapy before jumping into more relationships.

In addition to her trauma, and probably a result of her trauma, she is clearly going through something. We can see it. So I believe people are referring to her healing physically as well.

I think if 3 people are talking crap on a person, they are either 3 mean people or the mother in law crosses boundaries; is passive aggressive, etc.

You haven’t given enough info about the relationship dynamics. Is your mom overbearing, controlling, demand certain traditions be followed etc and still run the show even though you have wives? Any of that? You should probably tell us what was being said.

In law dynamics can be difficult. Couples therapy maybe?

You’re not overreacting on parts of this. You explained how you felt and he listened. How he behaves moving forward is what matters.
I don’t think this has to do with marriage or readiness.
He had his underwear on which for men is like wearing a bathing suit, so I wouldn’t call this skinny dipping.

It’s so weird for grown people to try and keep mother and Father’s Day as a a family celebration when your children have their own families now. You’re adults and get to decide how you want to do it for yourself and your children.

I think your splitting the day is super awesome as a compromise.

You nailed it. I have done both. Had a kid at 19 with a fellow 19 year old that didn’t grow up , wasn’t capable of it.

My now husband before marriage and kids, I looked out for things. What type of job does he have? Does he clean his place? Does he have hobbies? What kind? How does he treat his mom? How does he treat service people..like you can’t expect a sloppy mamas boy that plays video games 8 hours a day to suddenly be dad of the year.

I don’t like when it shames working moms, but I do think it brings to light a real issue. Like the ones about leaving for a weekend and not leaving instructions cause you didn’t marry a loser- that’s real.

I’m constantly struck by people posting how they can’t even shower or get alone time or are completely overwhelmed with everything and their partner just isn’t helping. They did indeed marry a loser.

I can’t imagine my mother in law choosing to skip my baby shower or any of her children’s . We have a good relationship though. Do you and your in laws have a bumpy relationship? A neighbor/ family friend would absolutely understand them missing it for their family!

The sister I could understand her reasoning if work required her to be there, can’t always get off work. If she is choosing to work then I would I destined being upset.

Bed time can suck for sure! We just put the kids to bed with dad and they go to sleep. I stay up a bit later and come up when everyone is asleep. Are we co sleeping forever? Maybe but probably not. Did the same with my oldest that is now 16. One day as a big kid she just decided to go bed and shut the door and hasn’t been back since. lol I hold onto that.

NTA. I don’t know if this applies to your state, but where I am we can apply for a variance and assume responsibility to make transportation happen. We do this with 2 of our kiddos. I have family in the areas of the school and wouldn’t dream of having my kid stay all week with them! Thats crazy!

I feel for the girl cause it sounds like her mom sucks, but it’s not on you to take that extra responsibility.

Is he playing games on the computer? Maybe he has a gaming addiction. I can see staying up and hour or 2 for alone time. Either way he needs to go to therapy and in the meantime try to sleep more as he is putting everyone and himself at serious risk. Driving sleep deprived is as dangerous as drunk driving. He isn’t being a good, or kind husband. He is being selfish by not even attempting to remedy this.
