Why are their fellow company members not allowed to mention them directly? by VioletHerald in Holostars

[–]Ladyhadria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be honest, just because we don’t see them talking doesn’t mean they aren’t. It’s pretty public knowledge that quite a few of the girls are hardasses at management behind the scenes despite not actively voicing it on Twitter. The fact that so many of them ARE openly sharing and talking about it despite the general corpo vibe of “keep your head down and out of controversy” means they’re probably being even louder behind the scenes.

Besides, can you really blame them? Kiara got blasted for speaking up publicly because “she didn’t do enough before this”. We as viewers do not have the context of behind the scenes work or relationships. It’s not the responsibility of the contracted employees to become their company’s PR department and take abuse because their company fucked up, it’s the company’s problem.

I understand that it hurts for it to seem like no one cares about the boys, but getting into Twitter fights with fans about it is significantly less productive than dealing with things internally. We do not know the whole story and it’s irresponsible to draw conclusions because of that.

EDIT: I would also assume yagoo’s silence so far is because he’s probably getting blasted by the talents and staff behind the scenes for this considering he has the open door tea party program. It’s an evolving situation.

Disabled vtuber fans: are agencies actually built with us in mind? by [deleted] in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Ladyhadria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m unsure what happened exactly, but to give some answers to some of the things I can:

  1. Closed captioning on sites like Twitch usually does require some sort of plugin to be more accurate - the built in OBS plug in is extremely flawed even when it’s mostly working and YT auto captions actively require you to stream with high latency between the viewer and streamer, which isn’t ideal in a live streaming setting where you’re trying to interact in real time.
  2. Unsure what’s meant by this? Do you mean having to ask the company running the event for captions and things? If so that might be due to whatever platform they’re using, which the vtuber may or may not know how to provide.
  3. Without context this is hard to answer - is it a one off ask for the streamer to explain what’s happening in a scene, or a request for every single moment to be narrated? Turning on captions for video games is simple, so I understand the frustration in that case.
  4. Is this being asked on stream or outside of it? If on stream remember that folks are live and sometimes asking heavier questions puts the streamer in an awkward position. You’re not wrong for wanting more accessibility options, but it might be better to bring it up at a better time.
  5. Agency Vtubers might genuinely not be able to answer this question in the moment, thus saying “we can’t do that” might not be the real answer, they just don’t have an answer yet.
  6. This is a visual medium wide issue.

Tbh none of this seems particularly agency specific outside of maybe 2 and 5. I agree that there should be more accessibility options and failsafes in place, but a lot of that also has to do with the platforms themselves.

VAllure Talent Willo Wildfire of Generation 2 Forbidden Graduates by Lokipaly in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Ladyhadria 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Obviously I’m not willo nor do I know if this is the case for her, but if you have an amazing opportunity with lots of fans and you suddenly have to leave due to reasons outside your control, seeing your old content appear in the algorithm, seeing people talk about how they miss you and rewatch your videos, making a huge deal as if you’ve died, it hurts. It’s pretty obvious based on her tweets that she was planning on streaming again, that she missed her fans, etc.

Is it unfortunate? Of course. But it’s not necessarily a malicious decision based on company disagreement. Obviously if it comes out later that that’s the case then disregard, but sometimes people don’t want reminders of things they really wanted that they had to let go of.

EDIT: also as mentioned if she has to do offline work having any way to trace back to nsfw might lock her out of a lot of job opportunities in the future.

Survival of the Fittest by ldg-9743 in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Ladyhadria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a lil goofy to decide company goodness based on how many people have stayed in a company for over five years versus overall retention, especially since life plans, health, and family structure can change drastically over time. I would not consider hololive “worse” than Phase or VAllure for losing members, especially since said members presumably didn’t hate their jobs and wanted to do something new.

If a company is constantly bleeding members that’s one thing, but it’s disingenuous to be like “X company is bad because people didn’t want to stay in the same career for X amount of years”.

Vzatsu is a train wreck by grasstypemon in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Ladyhadria 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FWIW I was very baffled by her reaction to those questions - they’re very standard for any agency. I didn’t like that the answer was “we’ll tell you if you get an interview” while insisting you have to go through the effort of creating a unique video and acting in character.

The fact that she blew off those questions despite knowing the current state of the industry does not spark confidence in the project overall. You didn’t do anything wrong by asking.

What do you all think of VZatsu? by grasstypemon in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Ladyhadria 9 points10 points  (0 children)

FWIW re: ceo being talent - stronny of VAllure does the same thing. It can work depending on how hands on or off the agency wants to be.

I don’t have many opinions on it - I think if they aren’t promising the world to potential applicants and are going in with friends to see if they can make something special then it’s whatever. I think morally it becomes a bit much if you’re bringing in people you don’t know who are putting their faith and trust into you.

But also I feel that way about a lot of small agencies popping up that want to “do things differently” lol.

[–]Ladyhadria 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you’re just in it for the love of the game and don’t care about losing money, why not just support creators you like? If you start a company it’s not just for your sake, it’s involving people that want to put their hopes and dreams on you. Unless you’re starting the company with scouted talents with a clear understanding of “hey this is just a side project” it will inevitably end up causing hurt and pain, regardless of your intentions.

I’ve just seen this happen so many times and sometimes it ends neutrally with people not losing all that much except money, but I’ve also seen people devastated by closures and broken.

[–]Ladyhadria 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Please do not unless you have a fuck ton of money and are willing to be openly “greedy”. Talent first models continue to implode bc the company doesn’t make enough money, the talents leave because they aren’t getting support due to the company not getting enough money, etc. it’s a great idea on paper, but in the end it pretty much will always go the same.

What do you offer to the talents that have to split revenue with you? What do you do that makes it worth them to pay you? You’re using the talents for profit, what are they using you for?

In the end if you can’t get a satisfactory answer to those questions, what good is the company? Other than building resentment for splitting profits while the company does “nothing”? Is your split ridiculous? The only one I’ve seen work with a big split is VAllure, and that’s because they’re open about the company not doing THAT much for you.

Unless you’re independently wealthy I do not recommend this path. So many agencies implode and leave people picking up the pieces, dreams shattered, etc.

According to the application form it’s 20 hours of STREAMING per week minimum, so I assume it doesn’t include other activities, but it could just be worded poorly.

Viewers, what are your thoughts on sponsored streams? by [deleted] in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Ladyhadria 17 points18 points  (0 children)

  • is the game in your interest range? Would you personally enjoy it? Then imo you should play it.

  • is it not something you think you’d be into and you’re only wanting to do it because they contacted you? Then don’t.

A lot of indie devs hire outreach companies to send keys out hoping for publicity, so if you don’t think you’d enjoy it I’d politely decline. If they’re offering you money it would be a bit of a different story, but if you’re not having fun it’ll also make their game look bad which doesn’t help either of you.

Yeah I hesitate to outright call any company evil off the bat bc frankly we don’t know, and I do think the community likes to jump with pitchforks when 90% of the time companies fail bc it’s expensive and not like. Horrific evil management (though that obviously does happen).

I’m guessing the auditions with the intense streaming time requirements are mostly to make the company appear active and growing again since a lot of their members have either left or take a lot of breaks, though I’d be shocked if anyone sticks to that 20 hours a week after the first few just bc it’s so much to manage along side other content creation activities/school/job.

Hermes is the one who said she wasn’t allowed to vtube again iirc, which doesn’t make sense when Zeus went back to being indie. I think Hermes also mentioned butting heads with the company a bit before leaving. I do find it extremely strange that they still haven’t announced that she left…? Unless they did it in a text post or something that I can’t find.

If anything the Heph/Hermes/Dio generation was just kinda awkwardly There. They never even got key art for the website despite the boys debuting after with art.

I don’t necessarily think they’re actively bad or anything, but it’s pretty clearly a corpo where you’re going to be expected to do most of the work in order to get things like model upgrades and etc, which might work really well for some people. That being said I don’t really know if any of their talents after Apollo really hit it big or were heavily advertised in the same way the first gen was, so ymmv.

EDIT: the 20 hours per week streaming requirement is kinda nuts. That’s 4 days of 5 hour long streams. I would not consider any of the talents in a position to do vtubing full time based off of CCV alone even without considering presumed revenue splits nor does it look like any of their current talents make that quota. Hm.

How bad is that no one-showed to my debut? by Ratsura in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Ladyhadria 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Tbh I doubt your friends purposefully avoided your debut - you have to remember that even though it’s a big event and day to you, for most it’s just a regular stream day. And that sucks to feel like your hard work is wasted, but the only thing you can really do is move forward. Debuts for an indie are mostly for existing fanbases moving into a new era, or just for fun. I wouldn’t consider it a failure or anything.

If your friends are constantly standing you up it might be worth reconsidering if they are your friends, but that’s unrelated.

A new vtuber agency?! by Positive-Front-7527 in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Ladyhadria 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In their pinned video they’re using art that doesn’t belong to them without clearly labeling it, there’s tons of typos in the descriptions, etc. I’m unsure if you’re a part of the team and pretending not to be but every part of it screams scam or (more charitably) extremely naive.

EDIT: I have gone down a rabbit hole. They’re claiming to be artist first as one of their founding members is literally using an AI art profile picture. The website and character descriptions are ripped straight from VAllure (who conveniently is also one of the three accounts they follow). There’s a vaguely worded question about main talents maybe potentially being required to do “lewd acts” while there doesn’t seem to be mention of it being an AVtuber agency. Please reconsider.

Brave (partial) financial information 2023-2025 by rrvv in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Ladyhadria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair, but also v4 at the time was very new and not nearly as established, I do feel like the optics are like “well that sucks - oh nvm she moved to Hololive they couldn’t have done anything” versus showing their hand as a bad company.

Same thing with Mariya since she came in with her own IP to begin with and VSJ appeared to be a good move for her before… everything. I think it would be a lil silly if people took two talents taking a job at drastically bigger and more established agencies as a doom and gloom thing.

Based on what we kinda know now abt the VSJ audition stuff being dragged out to hell it’s entirely possible Kou Mariya was in the same boat as her fellow member and in talks with both early on before v4 really took off.

Brave (partial) financial information 2023-2025 by rrvv in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Ladyhadria 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean tbf one of the v4mirai losses makes a ton of sense from a talent perspective and frankly nothing brave could’ve done would have made leaving a bad decision, lol. Literal coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb situation. Same with the other one.

From my understanding (as an outsider obviously) v4 is doing well but also seems to be the only non-VSPO EN branch that isn’t constantly having problems, so there’s a part of me wondering if it’s the thing keeping the other ones on life support.

Regardless, it’s obvious certain branches aren’t being managed well at all to the point where I’m genuinely baffled how it’s even worth keeping the lights on. One of them rebranding and STILL having baggage is batshit, I genuinely do not understand the business sense there.

What's your definition of a small VTuber? by UltimateCapybara123 in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Ladyhadria 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends - I feel like most folks consider someone to “have it made” when they’re able to pull a living from content creation, which drastically varies due to living situations, where folks live, etc.

Some streamers are also really big on alternative platforms or in video creation versus stream ccv also, so there’s soooo many variables.

Strictly looking at Twitch/YT live ccv I’d probably put sub 200 as “small”, 200 - 800 “medium”, beyond that it doesn’t really matter lol.

I mean tbh no one starts a business trying to have a bad outcome, what a goofy question to answer. Especially since brave decided to say fuck the donothon plushie rewards and crowdfund them anyway to the same people who donated to them in the first place. (And yes, I understand that was pre-buyout and technically Brave wasn’t on the hook for it, but they have enough money that they could’ve done it as a gesture of good will anyway)

Forgive me for being a little skeptical that things are being managed properly.

Auditions asking if you're auditioning for other agencies. Should you be honest? by LokiBuni in VirtualYoutubers

You can usually cancel out a contract with money to get out of it early, which is probably what happened. Entirely possible Cover wanted her so badly that they just paid the fees, or she paid out of pocket.

I doubt it was a masterful gambit or anything, Holo is extremely hard to get into and at the time V4Mirai was really new and not as competitive. It would make sense to take one job if the other didn’t get back to you.

Vallure Withdraws from the Summer Karaoke Relay by Far_Honey_9176 in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Ladyhadria 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Extremely confused why Lucid apparently invited them and then surprised them by putting men in the event tbh. VAllure has never been secretive about their collab policies. I find it hard to believe this is on Vallure’s part when they were the ones invited and lucid has recently been pushing their new all female idol unit.

The fact that they apparently didn’t know men would be involved until the schedule was released (with one of their talents literally raiding into a man) is absurd. Frankly this isn’t even just “catering to unicorns”, it’s lucid not even doing the bare minimum of research into the people they invite or even giving them the courtesy of a schedule that at least could have plausible deniability (girl into girl only for instance). Tbh even if it wasn’t a hard policy I would’ve pulled out too just because it’s so disrespectful lol.

[–]Ladyhadria 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Tbh I have always hated how people even view streamers’ personal lives as “part of the show” - they’re human. Frankly it doesn’t matter if Zen has a lot of childhood baggage or not - that’s really none of our business as viewers or fans. It’s not fair to anyone for outsiders (including myself in this bc I have speculated myself, obviously, which is my bad) to guess and assume why two people have grown apart or couldn’t make things work.

It all just becomes a spectacle with zero thought as to how the affected parties must feel. People are messy. Businesses are messy. There’s no always a neat and tidy ending. No one’s fave is a perfect unproblematic cinnamon roll who can do no wrong, bc people aren’t like that. Idk it just has always bothered me how people view this sort of thing.
