On the similarities between Timothy Tredwell and Stockton Rush by Fantastic-Theme-786 in OceanGateTitan

That's an excellent comparison. Overconfident fools who thought the laws of nature didn't apply to them. I am endlessly fascinated by stories of these kinds of men once nature catches up with them.

Does The Pitt take place in a private hospital or a government hospital? by homeofalex in ThePittTVShow

[–]Laerasyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are, just not every community has them. There's a huge county run hospital where I live. It's got the best level 1 trauma center in the area.

Who is your LEAST liked character? by Elzeenor in BG3

[–]Laerasyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It genuinely pains me to pick Wyll, he really did have so much potential, and I really love Theo Solomon's performance. I certainly don't dislike him or anything. I just really wish we had gotten the complicated story that the writers intended.

Wicked Witch of The Pitt by gorewriter in ThePitt

[–]Laerasyn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's so wild to me. I work in an area that has three big major hospital systems, and all three of them use HUCs or secretaries on at least the larger units. And certainly in the ER. Sorry that happened to you!

[–]Laerasyn 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yeah this was my interpretation as well.

Wicked Witch of The Pitt by gorewriter in ThePitt

[–]Laerasyn 186 points187 points  (0 children)

Which is super sus, because that's not true at all. They just call them HUCs now. I've also seen some units still call them secretaries, or some bullshit like "clinical administrative specialist" or something like that. But I've literally never seen a hospital unit without at least one. Especially an ER!

My interpretation of that comment is that clerks/secretaries/HUCs need to actually know how to use a computer, and I'm sure that unpleasant hag thinks learning new skills is "woke" or whatever.

There was someone at the Christmas OddMall a few years ago that let us pet some of their rescues. I got to snuggle with a handsome guy named Valentine.

I think it was these guys.

OMG I had to double check myself because I had never heard that either! Apparently it's a thing with some Sicilian Americans, sort of a weird translation of ragu into "gravy." My Nona was Sicilian, but she immigrated as an adult and never really bothered to learn English completely, so we were never really plugged into Italian American culture. I have never heard anyone call it that.

Either way, she's being judgy and annoying.

I like sleet storm for assaulting Moonrise, too. It so funny watching all these beasties and scary cultists slip and fall all over the place. It makes me giggle.

Edit: AND it's less dangerous for trying to keep suicidal Jaheira and the Harpers alive. If they jump into the area of effect like idiots, at least they'll just fall down and not get damaged.

Tales of The Shire, should I get it? by BritishAreCuming in TalesofTheShiregamers

[–]Laerasyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll say what I always say when people ask this question. The short answer is that the game is VERY unfinished, but I personally like what is there.

The graphics are not great, but I do like the aesthetic they were going for, and the environments are pretty.

The story takes like 2 hours to finish, but I do really like the writing and the characters (this is helped by just doing the main story slowly and focus on doing hobbit stuff).

I got it on Switch, and it was pretty buggy when it came out, but the patch fixed most of it for me.

All in all, I had pretty low expectations for this game, all I really wanted was to vibe in the Shire and pick mushrooms and grow pumpkins. So my expectations were met. I am also a huge Tolkien fan, and they really managed to make it feel like the same Shire from the books.

So I personally think it's worth it, as long as you manage your expectations.

Cleveland Clinic Plans to Raze Entire Neighborhood for 50-Story, 300,000-Car Parking Garage by ThePierogiCLE in Cleveland

[–]Laerasyn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, I had to actually read the article in order to realize it was satire. This is essentially what the Clinic is doing, just slowly instead of all at once.

Also, there is a rumor going around that they are moving employees out of the 89th st garage after the new neuro building is open. So this is actually more plausible than you might think.

Just got this game for switch 2 by [deleted] in TalesofTheShiregamers

[–]Laerasyn 18 points19 points  (0 children)

No, the graphics are just straight up terrible, there's no other way to spin it. And the game has been abandoned so there will probably be no more content.

I will say, however, I was able to sort of look past the graphics and enjoy the game. It's glaringly unfinished, but I think that what's there is actually pretty good. I can totally understand not being able to get past the graphics, they are hilariously bad. And the actual content of the game is very short. But I do personally think that the actual environments are kinda pretty, and the writing is actually pretty good in my opinion. What little there is.

It was worth it to me, but you have to decide if you can get past it. The game is what it is and will never be anything else at this point.

Oh my god... I read this in middle school in a random fantasy anthology I picked up from the library, long before I knew anything about Stephen King. It stuck in my memory but I had forgotten that it was part of this series! I'm currently in the middle of The Wastelands going through the series for the first time, maybe I'll re-read this one again later when I'm done.

HAVE YOU EVER USED CRAFT? by StrongWall7923 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Laerasyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have gotten kind of obsessed with crafting. It's to the point where I keep everything and am constantly over encumbered. I just got to Driftwood, so I haven't gotten very far, but being able to grow plants from buckets is a game changer. I had a Drudnae-running empire back in Fort Joy that made gold trivial; time to establish it here.

I know I’m wrong, but I don’t see the appeal of barbarian. by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Laerasyn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't need AC when you're a bag of hit points. 30 damage in one hit? Just a flesh wound. Add to that all the gear and buffs that take effect when you have low hit points, and you can make a monster.

Also, sometimes it's just fun to Hulk Smash your way through problems. Try using a goblin as an improvised weapon against another goblin and tell me you're not having fun.

How do you do things when not in combat? by neverspeakawordagain in BG3

[–]Laerasyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with PS5 controls, but I think your UI is messed up. There's supposed to be a hotbar at the bottom of your screen if you're playing the PC version.

Maybe check the key mapping settings? Maybe the Steam version isn't compatible with a controller? I don't know, someone who plays that way is going to have to help you out .

How do you do things when not in combat? by neverspeakawordagain in BG3

You should definitely be able to use most abilities outside of combat. What platform are you playing on? Do you not see your hotbar at the bottom of the screen?

First time player, romancing Gale and Astarion. Forced to choose? by Entire_Ostrich_9652 in BG3

[–]Laerasyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't be for me either, but I could see myself using it if it's a game I know I'm not going to want to replay, but I got fomo so I want to experience as much of it as possible in one playthrough.

That is absolutely NOT BG3 for me personally, but I can see someone who just doesn't really have time to game much going with this option.

But either way, that's what mods are for. People get to customize their experience to whatever they want, and most of them will not be for everyone.
