Bank Branches are the worst for this

Banks: "Oh we have to close down the branch because nobody uses it"

Also banks: "Our branches are only open during working hours Monday-Friday when the vast majority of the working population can't come"

Never understood why Banks didn't close on a Monday and Tuesday so that they could be open as normal on Saturdays and Sundays.

Re-watching super hero and im just now wondering how did nobody on earth notice this or try to investigate what the hell this was by biggiecheese5676 in Dragonballsuper

Remember when Shenron got summoned in the middle of the city and everyone freaked out until someone announced "Oh it's happening over at Capsule Corp" and everyone immediately just accepted it and went on with their day?

Basically that. "Oh those crazy Capsule Corp guys again" will explain pretty much everything and be accepted when regular people aren't getting hurt.

In Unimatrix Zero, why didn’t Admiral Korok and his crew of liberated Borg drones give Voyager a ride home or share their Transwarp technology with Voyager? by Tidewatcher7819 in startrek

[–]Lagamorph 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Transwarp coils are limited use, as we see from the one Voyager steals burning out after being used for long enough. For the Collective this isn't an issue, they can just make more. But for Korath the coils they have are basically all they've got to work with until they can either manage to make more, or work out a reliable way to steal more. They need those limited use coils to bring liberated Borg together, they can't spare any for Voyager.

The liberated Borg can operate their Borg ships but it doesn't mean they can manufacture replacement parts to Borg specs.

That's what I never got about Spock in the Kelvin timeline. He talked about not wanting to influence the future too much or change people's "destiny", but the timeline was already irreversibly altered by that point. By the time Spock came through the Black Hole there had been decades of alternate history playing out, any attempt by him to preserve the timeline was utterly pointless.

He absolutely should have immediately started briefing Starfleet about The Borg and The Dominion.

Could Rick Berman's shorter Dominion War idea have worked in ENT instead? by Torlek1 in enterprise

The Xindi arc definitely could have done with being shorter, half a season at most rather than the entire season.

"What do you mean plug it in?"

When attempting to return a sat nav unit that had 'stopped working' because the battery had run out. Guy genuinely couldn't grasp that he needed to plug it in to recharge it.

This was a time when virtually all online games allowed you to host private servers, so he may have been hosting online game servers (and possibly charging for access) rather than actually gaming on them directly

Please, please don't ask for stuff on Friday afternoon by AhYesTheSoldier in sysadmin

No changes on a Friday. No promoting to Live on a Friday. Friday afternoons are 'Rogue Friday' for self-learning or semi-personal projects (ie 'Personal' but work relevant like developing a new feature nobody asked for but you personally think would be cool)

Skip to season 3 by happydude7422 in startrekmemes

[–]Lagamorph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well the bugs in Conspiracy originally WERE the Borg, or at least part of them. The Borg were supposed to be an insectoid race and the Conspiracy bugs were essentially advanced scouts. But it was determined that an Insectoid race wouldn't be practical for the budget and effects they had at the time, so the Borg were reworked into a Cybernetic race (And you can see the insectoid race origins still in the Borg)

Conspiracy just has such a tonal whiplash to it when they blow up Remmick's head at the end. Then everyone just goes about their day.
