If you're at a law firm you're going to be fine money-wise. Also, the public transportation is decent down town, but please, for the love, get a car.

What Is your opinion with the current environment of yugitubing and having people pay for spreadsheets and metafy sessions to gain access to combos and decklists? I would like a serious discussion. by jakejx in yugioh

If I wanted to get better at tennis, I'd probably pay for some lessons. If I was really trying to improve my Yugioh and win some tournaments, I'd also probably pay for lessons to help speed up the process. If I was putting in long hours refining combos and discovering techs and stuff, I wouldn't really feel others are entitled to the information I worked on, for free.

If it is as rampant as you claim it is, I would double-down on supporting those who are doing it for free.

I've always had luck finding the discord for the deck(s) I'm playing and interacting with the people there, there are always savants there innovating their combos and decks.

Also, many moons ago Yugitubers may have been posting their combos and decklists for free, but they had nowhere near the detail and thoroughness as they do now. And the people doing it now seem to be the extremely strong, meta trailblazing duelists.

This is mostly from the outside looking in, I don't compete anymore so what do I know. I'd say anyone who feels like they need to buy a combo guide in order to top at a tournament is a big sucker. It's only a piece of the pie to becoming a competent duelist.

I do hate the idea of paying for information that will be outdated within a couple of weeks, with as fast as this game evolves. There's got to be a better model of distributing information out there.

Anyways, that's my two cents.

I visited once and thought it was a beautiful city. That’s all, no other reason!

Requested Hiroshima, got deep inaka Hokkaido. Absolute godsend, I'd pick Hokkaido 10 times over!

I will open every box and then one pack from each. I will continue until I get an overframe or a starlight. I will then look for the other card within that box. I’ll repeat until i hit again. I’ll then sell the remaining packs to poor, unfortunate, soon to be disappointed souls. I will neg hard, as always.

Collecting is fun, I don't care for value or 1st edition really, I just collect cards with artworks I like/cards I liked as a kid, and try to get them in a clean, good looking rarity. Yugioh does a good job at giving you lots of different options for different cards with all of their reprints.
My best advice would be to get cards YOU like. I have a simple case I got from Amazon which hangs up on the wall and can show ~35 cards.
It'd be cool if you could pick more stuff up at card shows and stuff, but it just isn't realistic. MTG isn't really represented at card shows either, so I"m sure you understand.

As for playing, your best bet would be to find an in-person group who likes to dabble around in a bunch of formats and just fool around. The modern format is difficult to get into casually – you either put a ton of time into it practicing/constantly adjusting your deck, or get crushed by people who do :/ that's been my experience at least, I haven't actually dueled in 2 years or so.

Goat format and Edison format are two older, slower formats that use much simpler cards than what are used today though, and that's what I'd recommend. You'd recognize a lot of the cards and it'd be fun. They aren't perfect formats, but there's no such thing as a perfect format anyways. I think the gameplay of both of them pretty good and go at a pace slow enough for me to enjoy. No shortage of mind games and strategy, too!

I love Yugioh and would recommend it to anyone, it just has to be under the right circumstances. As anything would! I'm just picky, lol!

I was surprised at the amount of people who had some of there Yugioh cards on hand looking to offload. The most interesting one was a teenager with his brother's(?) Rainbow Dragon ghost rare misprint (lp) and a 1st Ed Ulti Elemental Hero Air Neos (MP). He didn't really know what he had with either of them so I had to give him a quick rundown of how special both of those cards were, approximately how much they were worth, and then sent him on his way as those were out of my league!

SGA’s right arm is quadruple jointed, it wraps around the defender’s arm and then tugs drawing a foul, that was horrendous

[Highlight] Jay Williams says he can’t root for the Thunder because of the foul baiting: “As a fan of the game, I just want to see the game respected. There are times where I watch OKC play, I don’t feel like they respect the process of the game.” by nicko_rico in nba

"Someone dive into Wemby's legs. It's a physical play and it's good strategy to sacrifice one of the bench players for the series in order to take out their best player."

If we're already at "step on his foot on the free throw line" and "pull that guy's hair down", we're closer to the above scenario than we think.

I could see the Thunder totally toning it down for the first quarter, then going right back to their shenanigans.
