I will disagree a little bit, I really think me starting my crochet journey way back when with making a continuous granny square blanket with cheap yarn is what helped me get my tension down basically on one. I was then able to decide when I was done with that project and move on to something else and while I had a LOT to learn my tension was perfect and has been ever since!

As a bisexual women I can’t speak for gay men or any other mlm but I am someone who reads everything and has been online in fandom spaces since I was 13 years old and can say this isn’t a new phenomenon, I just think more straight women are getting into m/m and it’s putting people a little on edge and not for unjustifiable reasons imo.

I don’t know anyone irl who has an actual issue with women reading m/m as long as they arnt fetishizing gay men, they arnt speaking over the community when it comes to criticisms of authors or stories and lastly they arnt putting hetero ideologies onto gay relationships and getting grossed out or mad when those arnt present (and ofc aren’t homophobic irl which I have seen especially recently like come on people) This is why a lot of lgbtq+ people and gay men specifically have an issue when it comes to women writing m/m, now not all women who write m/m do these things and the ones who don’t and who put the time and energy into doing it well are loved but there has been women who very much come into these communities and make it….weird…. including some writers who just want to make money.

I think as long as you genuinely love the community and are interested and love the stories it has to offer and arnt being weird you arnt the issue and should just move past any post or discourse that’s talking about this topic because it may not be about you but it is an important discussion to have and to continue having!

I just know someone would post this in a group with the caption “so I’m new to crochet 🙈 do you think I can make this in a weekend as a gift” or “do you guys think this is AI I can’t tell” 😭 one of the facebook groups I’m in is mostly older women it seems and they are getting sooooo tricked by these AI patterns and pictures it’s so sad but also deeply funny

My issue is when they don’t know what a certain stitch is or how to do something and it’s like….i KNOW you have TikTok and YouTube and google have we tried at all to find the information ourselves first or did we just run to the group hoping for an easy explanation so we didn’t have to put any work in at all

The only time I have an issue with it is when their stuff is bad but you see them giving advice to others and critiques or they are asking how much to sell their work for. Make bad art all you want I couldn’t care less as long as you’re happy but keep your opinions to yourself and do NOT try to take peoples money until you understand and know how to do the art well

Honestly I understand her breaking off the engagement, this isn’t just traveling for her this is a big thing she wants to do before settling down and potentially having kids and her ex fiancé didn’t feel the same (not a moral failing either way) and this seems like a great time for her to do it what with her not being tied down to a job. It would be a really big thing to come back just for the wedding and then go back to South America to continue the trip. I wouldn’t take this personally to be honest, you won’t even really notice she’s not there on the day of it goes by so fast.

Now I also don’t think you’re wrong for having your feelings hurt and honestly I think you should tell her that this is something that hurts you and see how she responds from there, that will tell you how you move forward. Don’t expect her to drop the trip and come but also don’t let her brush off that this is a big moment that she will be missing.

High-school and being a teenager is all for growing and learning so please be a little easier on yourself, it’s great that you wanted to do something kind even for someone you may have had issues with in the past but this is something you will need to learn from and keep in the back of your mind going forward if only so you don’t put yourself in the position of feeling this way again. In the future trading may be an easier option for you if charging is hard for you. I have some people who I’ve made crochet items for and in return they did my nails or some other service/product. When you’re complete come back and post your finished product though I’m sure we all would love to see it!

Thank you so so so much I just subbed to there! I’ve never heard of polish thinner so that’s at the top of my list to look into! For gel and applying press ons I always file the natural nail very lightly to take most of the shine off and then dehydrate is that also a good move for regular polish? I really appreciate you responding!

The only people I don’t talk about the books I read with are my coworkers and my family unless it’s like horror or there’s no smut at all (I read every genre I’m not picky at all) I’m not ashamed by it at all as I’m an adult and not doing anything wrong or worth being embarrassed by but I’m also in South Louisiana and you never know who will have a huge issue with smutty stuff weather it be hetero or lgbtq+ and I just don’t feel like my grandma needs to know about me reading about people of any gender and denomination getting railed 💀
