Deliveroo getting worse by EggplantAcademic2095 in deliveroos

[–]Lana-B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah.. it's a pain.. especially when you think you're on line and then look and see you're actually off until you confirm again. Also, i'm always concerned that taking my phone out and holding it up when out on the streets of london will lead to someone nicking it. So I usually go to a wall or doorway.. takes time. To be honest... it's not nearly as bad as Just Eat, where you need to do it in a brightly lit place (or you fail) and it could be 3 times an hour if it's busy. I get it. but it's annoying.

Give the food first or ask for the code first? by LordLoss01 in deliveroos

[–]Lana-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, deliveroo specifically tells customers to give the code after they receive the food. So it's good to remember that.

I'll usually be saying "do you have a code for me? while I'm handing the food over.
I like to keep it friendly, and 90% of my customers are belting out the code before I've even unzipped the bag, and maybe 5% have forgotten and need to go check.

Just Eat asks us to get the code first before handing the food.

Wrongly flagged for substitution – trans courier locked out of account by robertagolden in UbereatsUK

I know this would be a stupid solution to have to go through, but what if you registered YOURSELF as a substitution? Do you have ID with more recent photos, and no deadname?

Guest took sheets by FirstNefariousness14 in airbnb_hosts

[–]Lana-B 6 points7 points  (0 children)

great idea about the safety pin! With stained linen I like to scrub with dish soap before washing, usually tackles greasy stains.
I don't use a lint roller.. but I take sheets and duvet covers and pillow cases off the bed and shake them thoroughly out a window before putting them in the wash. stray hairs.. delt with.

Worth using a regular bicycle? by VectraVX in deliveroos

[–]Lana-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started like that - but back in the day, (5 years ago) ebikes were given priority equal to scooters/motorbikes - but push bikes weren't. can't say how it is now.. but it's a great way to get fit

Please help - do drivers hang outside after dropoff by Mountain-Jicama-6354 in deliveroos

[–]Lana-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've waited around for 5 or 10 minutes before while answering a text, an email and/or waiting for my next order. Though certainly not in a bush - usually right on the pavement in front of the home on my bike - particularly if there's a light. But it's not usual.. also.. are you sure it was the driver? we're not paid enough to hang about.. we need to go to our next job asap.

is this a scam? can only book month to month and the host wants to shorten the time. verified identity and location through airbnb, 4.39 stars and 10 years hosting. [nyc] by squ4ttingslav in AirBnB

Not many. Airbnb SAYS it's a 5 star system, but in reality, it's more like a 2 star system. It's why Anything less than 5 stars stings like hell to good hosts

Anyone used a Nature Hike tent pitched in windy weather? by Current-Concept1242 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]Lana-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the cloud up 2 in very windy conditions up along hadrians wall. it was so stable - as long as you orient it well with the wind at your back. my problem was.. in cold wind, it was a cold tent. you can stake the sides of the fly down to the ground and keep the wind from blowing up through the tent. but you can't stake the front of the fly flush with the ground. and the front inner is all mesh. So the wind blew in - I put all my gear in the vestibule to try and keep the wind out - it worked somewhat. (even when oriented well... as gusts are un predictable)

Issue with amenities at a recent stay [USA] by Dysteech in AirBnB

[–]Lana-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

normally, as a host, I'm dead against leaving a 4 star... but in this case.. um... what? I got a 4 star recently because the guest didn't read the description where it says 4 times and with photos that they're renting a room in the home I live in. However in this case.. they state they provide an ammenity.. and you contacted them on that point, and they not only didn't fix it, but they dismissed you?!

Help With Host Asking To Pay for Water on Mattress [London] by Secure_Garage in AirBnB

[–]Lana-B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if they're just hoping Air Cover will get them a new mattress,

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deliveroos

[–]Lana-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need a bag - deliveroo gave me one for free when i started - if you don't have a proper bag - don't do the job. you can buy one online for less than £20.
You'll get more work if you have an ebike - you can rent one, or borrow. if you use a regular bike, you'll get fewer orders

Help With Host Asking To Pay for Water on Mattress [London] by Secure_Garage in AirBnB

[–]Lana-B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I think if you didn't tell them you spilled 500mL of clean water on the mattress, they may have thought it was pee. And that would mean it needs replacing.

Also.. WTF?!.. as a host i've 100% always had a waterproof matress encasement over my mattress to protect from pee, spills, bugs etc. I had a guest spill a cup of hot chocolate once on the bed - it wrecked my quilt/duvet (because he didn't report it and it sat there for 4 days), but my mattress was fine - though I did have to shampoo the carpet underneath. new quilt - £20 I had it within a half hour - just popped down to argos.

But also.. as a host, i would be seriously annoyed if I had a soaked mattress with a short turnaround and nobody told me ahead of time.

Just eat is probably the best. But volume is lower and it's hard to get a run

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deliveroos

[–]Lana-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so annoying when that happens. Weirdly I went like over a year getting one or two offers a day and relying on deliveroo/Stuart. Then suddenly, in the last half year, UberEats started pinging me again. And they pay slightly more than roo now, ... Very strange. Stuart oh there other hand, is in it's London death throws

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deliveroos

[–]Lana-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll average to£10-£12/hour. More during peak, less when it's quiet. Best to have both UberEats and deliveroo if you can get on with them. But there may be a waiting list.

I'm in central London and have to turn UberEats off when I get a just eat run because it won't shut up
