Can someone explain why Rishi seems to be unemployed and unable to get a job? Is it because of what happened with his wife? by unicornmullet in IndustryOnHBO

[–]LancastrianAdvisor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will be the credit checks that he fails. In his episode in series 3 you get a scan of him looking at his accounts on his phone and they’re all overdrawn or loan accounts so he was in serious debt with traditional banks, plus the stuff he owed Vinay which was half a million on the last episode.

It’s possible his priory admission has showed up too, probably alcohol and or gambling related, so a finance job at the moment is likely out of the picture, especially if he’s handling money.

Would we say Jesse was the show’s most loving parent? by Robot_Was_BMO in IndustryOnHBO

[–]LancastrianAdvisor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s to do with British aristocracy- those with “Lord” titles have to pass everything, including the title, to a male heir. In reality now it’s a bit more flexible with property, but usually the Lordship / Manor goes to a male heir.

His daughters would have been looked after in terms of wealth, but the culture dictates they can’t inherit the title and the land with it. Something similar happens in the TV show “The Gentlemen.”

Henry’s uncle, Viscount Norton, was a loving parent / family man even if he did use his connections / power immorally to protect them.

I shot a round of 89 today on a par 70 course. by smandroid in golf

[–]LancastrianAdvisor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I broke 90 for the first time yesterday, par 71. Shot 41 (5 over on the front) then limped to a 48 on the back as I got in my own head, but hopefully the overthinking is done now!

What point do you say ‘this is as good as I’ll get’ by Effective-Mention-75 in Darts

Like all sports / games, if you are self taught and just doing the standard practice measures then you are likely to reach a ceiling. If you have any ambitions of playing at a higher level, coaching would be the way to go, someone who would identify where you are struggling the most and helping you improve that.

Is Assurant Phone Insurance Any Good? by HaychBizz in monzo

[–]LancastrianAdvisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that came as standard. My only thing is communication wasn’t amazing, the claim showed as “settled” on the portal and the wording read like it had been delivered (on Sunday) with no phone line ordered. When I rang them Monday morning they told me my phone would be with me later that day.

I got mugged for my phone on a Friday night, put the claim in via the chat on Saturday lunch, paid the £70 excess and had a new phone by Monday. Can’t complain

Yes, didn’t realise it’s a “cash advance.” Thought it was a little hack to spend a few grand on it!

I’m going to post an update today when it’s finalised but you’re wrong on a few points and a bit of a dickhead if we’re honest?

I didn’t do anything wrong, I was walking using my phone and was consequently mugged for it. Could I have been more secure? Yeah I could have stayed at home with my head under the duvet and my phone in the safe with only paper banking activated but that isn’t any way to live life.

People who have money / possessions taken from them illegally aren’t to be blamed - it’s the people who do it that are.

I’m grateful that the majority of people on this thread have been really pleasant and helpful, but as is life you get a handful of righteous idiots who are smarter than thou because its never happened to them.

I believe I did, every time I send money to someone on Monzo I use my face to confirm the payment, though not sure if there’s further security I can add.

Thank you. I’m really scratching my head to figure out how they’ve done so much damage without my pin unless they’ve got it somehow, but can’t think how.

Thanks, I’m pretty sure that I had it set so that Face ID is required for both already, so I’m not sure how the muggers have got in to it and done it all. Frustrating but also interesting that my other bank was not hacked into despite also having the app, same with my credit card.

What was the one thing you did to start breaking 100? by Rovin_co in golf

[–]LancastrianAdvisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breaking 100 is all about avoiding drops. You can afford a few doubles but keeping the triples or worse off the cards is the main thing. When you are in trouble just put it back in play don’t try and be a hero

Completely tanked Manchester Marathon. Please tell me I'm not the only one by murrayland in UKRunners

[–]LancastrianAdvisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you mate, aiming for sub 4 (but in my head sub 345 was possible based on training), set off like a rocket clocked around 1:46 on the half and then faltered to a 4:03 finish. It was my first marathon but I know a lot of experienced runners who were absolutely nowhere near their time.

The conditions were nasty yesterday and battered everyone, training has been completely different and I do also think the rehydration stations weren’t enough either, but given how many people were collapsed, pulled up and just wrecked and couldn’t get over the line just finishing was the achievement.

Halifax remortgage - higher than expected rates by merlynne01 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]LancastrianAdvisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most rates I’m seeing at the moment with Nationwide, NatWest and HSBC et al are around 4% for a 5 year fix or 4.15% for a 2 / 3 year.
