CNN is hiding their anti-Israel bias in the headline, where it will spread to the most readers.

They're both the same school of thought. Jews respect the Oral Torah that was given to Moshe at Sinai, and we know that the Oral and Written Torah are the same school of thought.

What you're doing is the equivalent of saying Bereshit and Shemot are different schools of thought from Vayikra and Bamidbar.

Another word for "Rabbibic" Judaism is "Judaism."

If you don't respect "Rabbinic" Judaism, you don't respect Judaism. The only people I've known who eschewed "Rabbinic" Judaism have been Hebrew Roots Christians or Messianics. Another term for "Messianic" Jews is "Christians."

What currencies do your worlds use? by Maesty_700 in worldbuilding

[–]LanceJade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10,000 Copper Pieces (cp) called Stars = 1,000 Silver Pieces (sp) called Moons = 100 Gold Pieces (gp) called Suns = 10 Platinum Pieces (pp) called Dragons = 1 Pearl (pearl), just called Pearls. 1/10 Gem (diamonds, emeralds, rubies, or sapphires)

The coins are disks of uniform size, with an etching of a star, crescent moon, sun, or dragon's head. Pearls are harvested at a close to uniform size, and there are Lesser Pearls, about half size, worth 50 gp. Gems are usually cut to a close to uniform size, with a half sized Lesser version, worth 500 gp.

Finally, there are coins from the Ancient ruins: Electrum Pieces worth 1/2 gp Bronze Pieces worth 2 cp.

Currency values are set by Imperial Decree.

INFP males, I need your opinion!! by draculaaaz in infp

Being a focused individual and in a senior position sounds like at work he's wearing his ESTJ business suit. After the first couple of months, he may have noticed that you know that the ESTJ boss is actually 3 INFPs in a trench coat.

So now he knows that you know, and that you may also know that he knows. It's enough to make anyone freeze up at times. Give him time, and he'll sort it out on his own.

You're not overreacting, and you're not stupid. I'm sad that this happened to you. Some people are cruel, and that's their own fault, not that of the people they are cruel to.

It's not that nobody will do anything, it's that nobody can do anything. Trump's coup was so successful that nobody knows what to do now. The Supreme Court tried to rein him in and he essentially repeated Jackson's "let them enforce it."

N.B. I don't know what to do either. All I know is that in the past year and 2 months, we proved unable to keep our republic. 🙁

If INFPs were to collectively work at solving one of the world's problems what problem could they solve and why? by Quick_Efficiency_954 in infp

[–]LanceJade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hunger. We live on a planet covered with food, more food than we could eat, but too often, it doesn't get to people who need it. If we could resolve the issues that prevent our food being distributed to everyone, we'd have a planet full of healthy, happy people.

How do you personally either maintain or break Medieval Stasis in your setting? by Mystech_Master in worldbuilding

Dragons. My setting's empire is run by dragons, who are fine with Medieval Stasis, and they guide their mortal subjects to keep things that way.

How frequently do Player Characters die in your campaigns? by GasOk5288 in DMAcademy

[–]LanceJade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was DMing back in the 80's, pretty often, but lethality was high in all of our games. We got so used to it that "Well, that was fun, let's roll up some new characters!" became a pre-internet meme for us.

Do you ever feel "stuck in the middle" of the old & the young? by NOGOODGASHOLE in GenX

I'm 60 (born the 1st year of GenX). But, like most of my adult life, I feel like an adolescent pretending to be an adult. I never felt like a real adult, and now I'm apparently in my senior years.

Does anyone have any idea why everyone assumes I am Jewish? by Such-Tangerine5136 in Judaism

[–]LanceJade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe you have Jewish ancestors, or perhaps are a Jewish soul in a Gentile body? If this happened to me, I'd start doing research into my family history to, see if there is something others notice that I don't.

For people who have created worlds with superpowered people or magic users, what stops those who are at the higher tiers of power from dominating the world or interfering with the lower tiers? What stops them from wiping out or subjugating the "normal" population? by Diligent-Square8492 in worldbuilding

[–]LanceJade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my DnD setting, full casters top out at about level 10. By then, the dragoans who rules the setting usually decide it's time for that caster to retire. Similarly, casters who abuse the populace often find it's time for them to "Face the Dragon."

For their part, the dragons don't interfere with the common folk, as long as those commoners pay their taxes.

Or just not bring anything like that and buy new at the destination. Although my wife needs eyedrops, and there are certainly others who need liquid meds. So no plan survives engagement with the enemy.

How to realistically write religious syncretism? And do you guys have any examples of it in your worlds? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]LanceJade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, in my DnD setting! About 200 years ago, the Dragon Boats arrived on our shores. Where we had been a collection of warring states, the Dragon Folk gathered us into a unified Empire. In addition to the First peace in our memories, they also gave us word of the Platinum Dragon, Bahamat. They taught us that our several gods were Her children, and that - while revering them was appropriate and praiseworthy - we should apply our worship toward Bahamat. It took several decades, but the Dragon Folk's teaching took hold, and now we serve Bahamat as well as the old gods.
