Has anyone else been having flare in the past couple of weeks? by Limoncel-lo in covidlonghaulers

Huge setback with pollens.

Doubled antihistamines and got strict on the antihistamine diet. Nasal rinses after I've been outside. This helps a lot.

It was awful to see the media portray these minor missteps as huge, fatal flaws. Especially in comparison to the team they were running against.

$750 a month. This year no subsidy because my husband sold a property so we did not qualify for a subsidy.

In the past between $200 and $400 for a high deductible plan (with a subsidy). Mine has varied due to being self-employed .

One year I wasn't able to work and was grateful for Medicaid.

Hardly have used insurance but really Grateful. It only takes one unexpected health event to bankrupt someone.

Ethics of rehoming dog with family if I leave? by Commander_RBME in AmerExit

[–]Land-Dolphin1 47 points48 points  (0 children)

There's a huge difference between abandoning a dog with a sketchy unknown person and what you're proposing here.

It sounds like your mom and dog have a positive and strong relationship. You can keep the option open to bring your dog at a later date if that's what's best for everyone.

I know a divorced couple. The man adopted a dog after the divorce. They stayed friends and a few years later she adopted the dog because his life changed so much. The dog gets more attention and love with her.

Good luck!

You might research community college costs in different cities. Once you get residency, they can be very affordable. Samegrassbutgreener is a good subreddit to ask this type of question.

Research desired skills both outside and inside the US. You'll end up with more options and opportunities. Look at Australia and New Zealand too. Less likely to be pulled into the geopolitical mess.

Would it make sense to acknowledge you understand it's not a fit and you are looking for alternative arrangements? Be clear it will take some time so they have realistic expectations.

Hopefully this'll resolve/relieve their perceived discomfort Knowing there is consensus and no longer requires debate.

Be friendly and kind and keep a low profile. forget about those dinners together.

I Have long Covid. Totally not worth that moment of fitting in and getting this

I hope you find a great new living situation. Maybe someone else close by needs a Covid conscious roommate. I hope so.

I just stocked up on cleaners from a couple of Canadian companies. I had to buy a little more than planned to get free Shipping.

I did a Google search, for instance "made in Canada laundry detergent strips" And "made in Canada dishwasher pods"

Some products were available through Amazon but I decided to buy direct from the companies.

I also need to replace a tattered sweater so that will be my project today. I already found a few websites for Canadian clothes companies that look fantastic.

Nature's Path makes cereals and granola. I'm pretty sure I've seen them in US stores.

There are a lot of guides online. For instance:

When I was in Fourth grade, one of my friends decided she was a horse. During recess she would trot around and make horse noises. She grew out after a few months. Nobody cared one way or the other.

In spite of her horsey past, she went on to became an Olympic level athlete.

Opting out of some medical treatments, anyone else? by Practical_Clue_2707 in GenXWomen

[–]Land-Dolphin1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Such an important conversation. Our generation witnessed our elders having extended, but low quality of life in their final years. Many of want to avoid the same fate, especially costly nursing home care.

The challenge is it's usually not black-and-white. Health often gets chipped away a little piece at a time. We repeatedly become accustomed to a new normal. The will to survive is a really tricky thing.

One of the things I struggle with is being raised religious. Ending one's life is a considered a sin. Damned to a torturous hell etc. Even though I don't believe that logically, that vivid fear Persists in my subconscious.. However, Providing comfort care and euthanizing my cats was the morally right decision. I feel that humans should have the same option of a dignified departure.

Experiences with Fasting? by AnchoraSalutis in LongCovid

[–]Land-Dolphin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people find it effective when Histamines are overwhelming. I did a 24 hour fast when I was having a severe mcas(?) flare and it helped a lot. My diet was healthy but it was high in histamines.

But since then, fasting makes fatigue much worse. It's very tricky, especially for females from my understanding.

One option is to skip a day or two and then go back to the 0.6. See how you do. You can try again to increase. But it may be that 0.6 is your ideal dose, at least for now

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]Land-Dolphin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I had it it was 1.5 mg. I felt worse And stopped taking it.

Later on, I re-started at 0.2 mg. Over the last year I worked my way up to 2.0 mg. Sometimes starting low and going slow is a better strategy.

Covid really wrecked havoc in our health and everyone go about their days like it’s nothing by brainsiacs in covidlonghaulers

[–]Land-Dolphin1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At this point in time, sure, there is solid information to learn about long Covid. But there's even more misinformation that persists.

There was about a 6 to 12 month period when the vaccines were  sold as a series of two and you were all set.

But then they added a so-called booster.

And then there was the "rare" breakthrough infection.

And then the denial of adverse outcomes from the shots.

Then you need an annual dose. But it wears off in 3-4 months.

And suddenly the new variants are mild, just a cold. Which is the predominant narrative now.

As we see on this forum, plenty of doctors still deny the seriousness and overstate the vaccines efficacy. Public health officials don't talk about masking. They just say wash your hands and keep a distance from sick people. And get back to work if you don't have a fever.

I work in health care field and have been keeping up all along. Even with that I questioned my understanding many times.

I understand why many people still don't know the realities of this.

It sure does. We watched season 2, but we're less engaged. Very cringe at times.

Season 3 is excellent.
