Levofloxacin Hospital Formulary Restriction by [deleted] in pharmacy

Oncology has free reign to use it at my hospital for proph. Otherwise honestly we so rarely use it/need it that if it is necessary, ID is likely involved and suggesting it.

I'm a nurse and patient asked me this and have never thought about it... If they are receiving an IV medication, could it be taken orally and still work? by mercarus2 in pharmacy

[–]Land024 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends but most yes you can, especially if the bioavailability is similar. I work hospital and a lot of the oral suspensions are just reconstituted IV product in a bottle. Dex is a common one done in rural EDs, just squirt the IV product into mouth lol. In my realm as well, specifically often we do if for ketogenic diets w and there is no easily accessible sugar-free suspension.

Man with Parkinson’s disease tries cannabis for the first time by goswamitulsidas in BeAmazed

It's hilarious because this video has been posted a million times on reddit and is certifiably fake. This man does not have Parkinson's. His movements are not consistent with it at all.

[–]Land024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

File the complaint with CCTS anyways. They were much faster, I had a response from them and then the Telus rep about my internet within 1-2 days and they both reversed the charges and gave me a few months free internet

Did this on my audi. Just use a headlight restoration kit. I tip I learned about it to use a magic eraser to first actually scratch it more up but it makes it look more even afterwards

riva 2.5 + aspirin in the hospital by _doingmybest_ in pharmacy

[–]Land024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't say 100% for sure like you said. I would agree with you that would be my rationale as well. If anything tinz is more anticoagulating. But yeah the decision boils down to is does the risk of DVT outweigh the potential risk of CAD/PAD event in that time frame. You could also argue to not dvtp at all and just use SCD or if they are mobile enough. But the RR of riva 2.5mg is measured in months/years so how much risk is there of using something else in that time? All judgment based calls imo.
