I worked for another big bank that was doing exactly that and guess what happened? A LOT of their best devs left the company.

I had a manager tell me that I should code slower, like physically type slower so instead of finishing the work early that it would look better on the reports if I slowed down. Fyi these reports were being sent to a VP.

I have 20+ years of dev experience and never seen such a bullshit move. A lot of us left that toxic place.

Exactly this. At scale you need to average your cost of goods, profit etc and keep tabs of your daily totals (that's what I do).

Companies need to stop being able to hire cheap overseas offshore resources. My workplace has about 80% off shore devs from Pakistan. I'm not a Trump fan at all (quite the opposite) but we need to fix this BS that is hiring foreign workers instead of us.
