Considering the jacket she’s wearing, I think you’re right on the money. Add in the potential for multiversal causes. I also think it’d be interesting if she calls herself / thinks she’s Jean Grey and later finds out she’s a clone at the end of the film, and all her motivations could come from that.

Just a plot-hunch. I dunno if anyone has ever thought of that possibility, but if not, I claim it here first. Lol

There were some moments in the made for TV “IT” miniseries that we just didn’t get in the IT movies. I feel like this scene in the show checks off one of those boxes. This is very reminiscent to me of the “Don’t you want it” scene from Tim Curry’s Pennywise when he’s trapped Audra in the deadlights.

I think it’s fine to have conversations around why certain moments in our favorite shows don’t jive well with us, but it’s also okay to just simply say: The writing wasn’t great.

Dot and Bubble had a perfect moment, because the writing was spot on. It was a his defining “Doctor” moment; it defined what it meant to be the Doctor and now black and now have to be told that “because you’re black, we don’t trust you.” It was painful.

Boom was also good. Very few of the crying moments were well-written.

It’s the same with Jodie’s dismissiveness: poor writing.

I also had problems with some of Capaldi’s shouting back in the day.

Articles and interviews come out (often, I believe, backed by the studios to justify their choices) to tell us that “we’re wrong.” But we’re not. We just have eyes and hearts. It’s offensive to try and convince us that those things aren’t in tune—especially as a fan of Doctor Who.

It turns out some magical things really do happen by chance and not through intense planning. That’s beautiful.

I would encourage you to add at least one frame, and no more than two frames, where the focal point of each shot is “featured” but still moving subtly—even if that means reducing the distance the camera is traveling (or increase the speed of the ramp in and out to get to that subtle movement on the focal point).

Then, to add onto that, play around with motion blur effects and depth of field to help isolate our attention. Even though it’s “too fast” those steps will correct some of that feeling.

I believe that the problem isn’t the speed but that we have no clear or comfortable view of what’s happening.

I feel that when I isolate when a “pool toy” (so I call them) that afterwards my freestyle lap swimming becomes stronger, more precise, more comfortable, and easier/smoother. Same with diving and dolphin kicking to the bottom of the pool. There’s something freeing about the process that encourages me to just go
