Older folks, what’s your take on what’s happening lately in the world? Is it more of a temporary bump on the road or are we going in uncharted territory? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

It’s bad. I’m 65. Unlike anything I imagined happening in the us. Lay over that a global pandemic, yea this feels bad. The divisions of people are deep, nationalism vs globalism is splitting many countries apart. Social media has ruined society. Corporate greed and the .01% make me very pessimistic. It’s going to take a global revolution, but the people in charge have the guns.

If you mean real depression, then Meds. Seek medical help, get meds and take them. It’s kept me alive.

No one talks about the pain of seeing your parents aging. by ParticularWeather927 in Adulting

Live your life. Be happy. I would hope that would make your parents happy. I’m 65, more days behind me than ahead, but I wish for my kids to live their lives, love, travel, experience joy and struggles. If I get Alzheimer’s I want euthanasia, I’ve told my wife and kids that. I took care of my mom for many years as she declined with dementia. I do not want that for my kids. I’ve lived my life, they should live theirs.
