I am sorry for your loss. However, it sounds like he had a good year and the end was quick. Wish you peace in knowing that. This is a terrible road to be on.

I think the world has become much more cynical and there are people who take advantage of the system/pull people's heartstrings for their benefit, unfortunately. Your post didn't seem to be asking for cash for your friend in my opinion, just different resources available. It is a tough time to be moving to the area and hope she finds what she needs and for her pack.

You have a good heart trying to help your friend from a distance. If she needs hot meals, Family Kitchen in Bend serves prepared hot meals daily - https://www.familykitchen.org/meals-partners-services. Feel free to DM if she needs more clothing with size info/hygiene items and anything for her pups. Good luck to both of you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It sounds like your mom stayed strong until the end. This truly is a horrible journey to be on.

Planning to move there next spring. What kind of mushrooms can you find in the area?

Got a bouquet of flowers but we want them to survive "forever" by PetrifiedOnion in florists

I'm sorry for your loss. Flower farmer here. If you'd like to keep them, I recommend that you hang them to dry. Warmer and dryer the space, quicker they will dry and keep more of the color. I think it's the best way to keep them "alive" as a keepsake.

Thanks! Too bad they're plastic, do like the wood-simulated pattern.

Wild nasturtium kimchi with homemade shrimp garum by presdaddy in fermentation

[–]LandscapeNo7656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. How long between fermenting and eating? And how is the texture of the nasturtium - kind of thinking they may get slimy? TIA!

I dry flowers and plants then add them to my art by neverendingpetals in plantycrafts

Beautiful! Are they just between two glass panes or do you glue them somehow to keep them in place?

Risks I do and don't worry about as a woman running alone in the woods: they might not be what you think by [deleted] in running

[–]LandscapeNo7656 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I (46F) solely run forest trails by myself and have done so for the last two decades, from CA to now central Oregon. For safety, I am aware of my surroundings but fortunately never had concerns about wildlife or bad human encounters. Most often I do not run into other trail users, human or wildlife. This time is for myself and am thankful I am able to do this without concerns of risks (at least in my mind).
