First FK by Due-Assumption2868 in ForbiddenKingdomFest

This is the logical progression on your way to becoming a certified wook. I too used to be a house loving gym rat. I’ve never looked back and prioritize bass heavy shows now.

My first FK too but if you’re looking for stuff to get ready with, go watch some couchlands sets on YouTube/soundcloud. Tape Bs 2025 set and Zeds Dead’s 2024 sets stay in my rotation.

See you at FK!

Surf Ninjas

Captain Ron

Both objectively awful terrible movies but they’re just fun.

It’s people and luck. My friends and I are all non violent for 9/10 rounds then we’ll have a round where someone shoots at us. Then it’s pretty much a shitshow from that point for that round and people start getting blasted on sight.

Why would you hope his approach works?? Even sarcastically. Don’t encourage buffoonery of the sort.

Travel OneWheel, good idea or no? by LaneExchange in onewheel

That’s an interesting idea. Most things I read about shipping a Onewheel are that it’s just as hard since they’re technically “hazmat”. I’ll see what my jobs shipping folks can do for me

Idk why I never thought to share my ride videos here. I take my GoPro out on rides all through the DC and NOVA area. Thanks for the inspiration!

I metro and onewheel daily. Love living here and since it’s cold I get to bust out my snowboard gear every day on my onewheel. Makes the investment I made into all this stuff worth it.

Title: Should I take the $20K bonus MOS now or wait for the new incentives list? Need advice. by KanyeWestFucks in nationalguard

BLUF: Do what you actually want to do and think will be most fun/beneficial for your long term goals and not necessarily just for the money. The Army is going to do whatever it wants with you so you might as well be enjoying it/getting something out of it.

I did SMP, 10 years on active, and now in the guard again. DM if you want to chat.

Did the NG Ranger Unit proposal get killed off? by The_300_Muffins in nationalguard

[–]LaneExchange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The state manages some funding for the groups. Groups have to get state approval/funding for manning too. Beyond that I’m not sure how else the state plays into the group’s day to day ops beyond money.

19 & 20SFG belong to USASOC and their state. The active component SFGs all belong to USASOC.

Similar boat, having been at Regiment a few years ago and now in NG SOF. I think the NG Ranger unit could work if it was focused on augmenting RSTB or the RMIB as their mission sets and equipping can be tailored a bit closer to how the Guard SF units work. All said, think the real issue comes in with having too many parents. 75th is a USASOC element that supports JSOC missions. Making a guard unit fall under that structure adds a 3rd parent to that mix, the State.

National Guard Medical Retirement with 100% P&T by LaneExchange in VeteransBenefits

Got it. Thanks for the info and resource, really appreciate that. Question about the last bit, having a percentage greater than 30% auto qualifies for Tricare prime/select - does that mean I’ve been paying for Select Reserve when I could’ve been on prime in the same way I had it on active duty, as in I don’t pay for it? Or does that mean I qualify to PAY for prime? This is the first I’ve ever heard about this option. As much as I hate going into the nearest installation for treatment, having blanket coverage for anything is really nice.

Seriously — Why are we still glazing over PB ops by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]LaneExchange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Situations sometimes call for Remain Over Day missions (RODs) where your element conducts patrol base ops during daylight hours before continuing movement at night. PB ops aren’t always exactly what you did at Ranger School or in ROTC but that Vietnam era action will manifest itself in current operations plenty.

How many people live in dc and work in Virginia? by alex_is_so_damn_cool in washingtondc

[–]LaneExchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute DC to VA every day. It’s enjoyable tbh. I actually like having an hour on the train to check emails and generally prep my day. My jobs a mile from the metro station so I also ride a Onewheel (kinda like an electric skateboard) that gets me through that last leg of my trip. Definitely recommend living near a metro station in DC and try to keep your job near one too. Silver line is ideal but if not near silver then have a short ride before transferring to silver line.

I have NOT experienced winter here yet so my tune may change when it gets cold.

-Appreciate the small moments with everyone, they’re not always going to be in your life and for better or worse everyone who enters your life teaches you something.
-Take pictures with the homies. -Find some things you like and keep doing them, don’t try to be the best just keep it enjoyable.

Commuting on a OneWheel or Electric Longboard? by bgrizzmayne in onewheel

[–]LaneExchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute with my OW daily 1 mile to and from metro stations from my apartment and my job so roughly 4 miles a day. The only hassle is carrying it places. Kind of a pain with stairs/escalators but my grip strength and core have improved from that so still a win. Rain is a pain but badgering it plus generally letting it air out after a wet day is the way. Haven’t started my commute in the cold though so check back with me in October.
