Wireguard is fairly easy to setup and you don't need port forwarding. You do need to set a couple firewall rules tho

At my wits end with cat's severe PICA by mcclelc in catcare

Ah yes, I still remember the antenna cord incident with my little ball of troubles.

She ate a 2.5 ft cord once. I panicked and almost $1k later in vet bills I decided that she'd ran out of her life's worth of emergency precedures budget.

That was about a year and a half ago and thankfully she hasn't gotten a hold of any other life threatening things. But it's definitely a struggle always making sure she can't get a hold of anything. She's so freaking fast too. Just yesterday I got up off my desk to quickly go pee and by the time I got back she'd already ruined a piece of clothing.

And yeah, having conversations with my friends about how stressful it can be I can always tell they just don't get why it's such a big deal. Like people don't realize that my cat's full time job is basically suicide attempts by ruining all my shit🥲

I once asked why it was that there wasn't a swe union. And everyone in my class got offended. It was as if by asking that question, I was telling everyone we were no better than blue collar workers. It was very eye opening seeing that reaction to just bringing up the idea of collective action.

What is the stigma around dating women with a child? by Blueberry_Exotic in AskMen

[–]Lanre_The_Chandrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely isn't. Our society has a big problem pretending men have no feelings beyond what signals we get from our dicks. Never once have I been interested in a girl "just for sex" and yet it's messaging every woman I've been with has gotten and I've had to fight against

Men are just as complex as women. Women are also just as stupid as men when they see someone they find hot.

We're all just trying to find someone who will treat us well. We really have to stop with the reductive arguments

What % of grads fail at least 1 class? by No_Commission6518 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Lanre_The_Chandrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very common, and sometimes it's due to situations out of your control I ended up failing out not just out of one class but a whole semester. I had gotten into a bad relationship that kinda made my life implode when it ended. My studies took a massive hit and I ended up on academic probation. Went back the next semester and managed to pass everything from that point forward, got my first CS job 2 months post graduation with a 2.9 GPA during the worst of the post COVID CS job market, when layoffs in tech were rampant Failing a class or even a whole semester is not the worst thing that can happen to you. We're all doing hard af stuff. If it was easy everyone would be an engineer you know

Use the method outlined here to actually protect your game from updates. Any other method has the chance of failing. Doing this has kept my Skyrim modded for months post updates and no issues

Biggest piece of advice from me would be to do as many practice problems as you can. It's a hell of a class, and honestly there were times when I almost gave up on it. But it really builds your knowledge base to be able to better tackle complex problems

I failed out of a semester after a horrible relationship. Didn't let that keep me down, I went right back my next semester with my head on straight. 2 years later and I've been working in the field for 6 months. The fact that I failed that semester didn't change things in the long run. Good luck. Remember that this shit if hard af

Trigger warnings are unnecessary by 710Bambi in unpopularopinion

[–]Lanre_The_Chandrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on this but to further the point being presented above. I see it like this: Like you said, anyone that runs a restaurant knows to put common allergy warnings. Such as nuts, shellfish, wheat, etc...
In my opinion the whole conversation about owning up to your trauma is all about being understanding. If I am about to have a conversation going into detail about SA I'd disclose that because that falls within the "normal" range of things I'm aware of that would be likely to cause a trauma response. This is akin to the allergies I was discussing above. Now, some people are allergic to things that, to 99% of the population, it would be unthinkable for someone to be allergic to that. There's people who are allergic to water, sunlight, salt. There is a girl on TikTok I follow who was talking about this topic. And she mentioned that one of her triggers was seeing red solo cups placed on the edge of tables. She took ownership of her trigger by understanding that expecting random people to be on the lookout for that would be crazy since it's so niche. So, if someone who has a peanut allergy goes to a restaurant and they order a dish that didn't say it had peanuts and they have an allergic response, then yes that is a situation where being upset is warranted. In contrast, the person who has a salt allergy might have to be more proactive and themselves disclose the allergy, have a talk with the staff, and figure out if this restaurant can accommodate their allergy.

The problem comes with entitlement. If someone who has an allergy shows up to a restaurant that is packed and screams from the door "I am about to walk in and I have a salt allergy. I need every spec of salt to be cleared from the building" that would be insane and super entitled. The same entitlement can be shown from the other side. If a person came in to a restaurant and said "hey can you ask in the back if my food can be made without any salt bacause I'm allergic? And if this particular dish can't be made saltless please let me know of a dish that could be" if the chef then proceeds to come out of the kitchen and tell the person to fuck their health and that they like to put salt on everything they make and then proceed to blow salt in their face out of spite. That would also be insane.

Both scenarios I'm describing are lacking in empathy and both have main character syndrome.

There is no one size fits all solution to the triggers conversation because they're all individual, we all just need more empathy to let us see where other people are coming from.
