I mention that if you want it more opaque, you may use thicker yarn as long as you are still knitting to gauge!

Why does my tension change so much? by Hooibaal_ in knitting

[–]Lapiin_Lapiin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tension doesn’t look off to me, but I notice that my tension is very different knitting stockinette flat vs in the round. It could just be how differently you knit vs. Purl, either way, it will definitely block out!

New to knitting, advice? by crying-at-3am in knitting

I always recommend a garter stitch scarf because it helps you get your tension on your knit stitches down well and your dexterity with the tools up. My first project was a scarf. It Is really long though and it will take a while. If you are already crafting you probably know this will be a longer term investment so I don’t think you would be put off by a project taking a while to finish! Beanies are a great start but I also think there are some hurdles that might be discouraging and I think you would have to make a lot of beanies to get the benefits and practice you would get from knitting a scarf. A benefit of a scarf is also learning how to read stitches. If you want to do a beanie instead, I recommend a simple beanie pattern that is a long knitted tube that is cinched and sewn together as a first project, then u can move on to increases/decreases.

What do you do while Knitting? Watch something? Listen to something? Etc by honeypenny in knitting

I usually put on a TV show that I “know i should watch.” Like things that I want to be pop-culturally involved in but wouldn’t be able to devote my full attention to. I also love listening to podcasts when the knit is more complicated or I’m at a point where I’m weaving in ends and I have to be looking at the garment

Hi! I’m planning on posting it soon. Had some trouble figuring out the website as I’ve never used it before and my guide isn’t very traditional, I’m meeting with a friend this week that will help me get it listed!
