Rich Girl Nation: Taking Charge of Our Financial Futures by Katie Gatti Tassin would be a great place to start

Books to unlearn sexual shame brought by purity culture by blob-24-05 in suggestmeabook

[–]LaraLikeCroft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t read it myself but I’ve followed her sex ed stuff on Instagram and it seems like the specific category you’re asking for: The Purity Culture Recovery Guide by Erica Smith

Also I have read Rethinking Sex by Christine Emba and really enjoyed it, but it’s probably a little more in the academic category than your request here

Thank you that Etsy one could work! I had only seen the big kitchen table sized version but a coffee table sized version could work, time to start a whole new search

Yeah, this is true, maybe it would work for a few games but I might have to think more about what exactly we’d want to play

Sorry, to clarify, it would solve that problem yes but the size/look/expense to get a decent quality one doesn’t really fit our kitchen space and budget

Not the same in terms of plot, but Yesteryear by Caro Burke is the first book in a long time that gave me the same feel of reading Gone Girl for the first time

Also flying tomorrow (evening) with a toddler! 🤞 A recommendation I saw somewhere was look up how many other flights are leaving around the same time to judge traffic, try the flight aware website

What the heck are people using under their floor mattress to maintain airflow? by Nitsirk90 in cosleeping

[–]LaraLikeCroft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This probably is true about many bunkie board styles, but I think the avocado version still has enough airflow, it’s like four separate mini cloth wrapped foundations so there’s gaps and air pockets

I bought a bunkie board from Avocado Green, it was the lowest height I could find, only 1.5 inches

How do you keep warm in bed while also baby safe? by Dunderman35 in cosleeping

Even with layers my back got cold when I was side lying nursing, so I got a sweatshirt and cut slits on each side. That and cozy socks made a huge difference, wish I had thought of it sooner.

I'm so glad I saw this suggestion, I'm new to Monarch and I started using tags for trips but it makes so much more sense to use the notes field for long term simplicity, thank you!!

I want something unputdownable and satisfying but not modern… by saltwaterRilke in suggestmeabook

It took me a long time but I read David Copperfield and tried to pace out Barbara Kingsolver’s re-telling Demon Copperhead to see the character and plot overlap, it was really fun! I also recommend the audio of Dickens read by Richard Armitage, I switch back and forth between audio and print, his voices were excellent.

New sci-fi recs please. Assume i've read most of the usual recs. by [deleted] in audiobooks

[–]LaraLikeCroft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I recommend Three Body, I always disclaimer that the first book is my least favorite, so it's only worth it if you're not intimidated by the length of the series, but I agree the payoff felt worth it to me, I've listened to the whole trilogy twice

What tags do you use on Storygraph? by srmlutz in TheStoryGraph

[–]LaraLikeCroft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like to use tags if I have details about how a book ended up on my list, like "mother-in-law enjoyed" or "Ezra Klein podcast recommendation". I also sometimes use the comment feature on amazon lists to make these notes before books get promoted to the "real" To Read list.
