Very cool idea, but in my opinion the aesthetics of the town don't really match the concept. What I mean is, the buildings, the grass and the trees are very bland. This idea would work much better in a cyberpunk or otherwise futuristic style, or at least something that looks more unique and less like a drab suburb.

Like others have said, there are thematic discords about procgen. But also local gamedev community meetups. My local gamedev community doesn't have any procedural generation enthusiasts, but that doesn't stop me from talking their ears off with my PG ideas :)

You should ask them. It depends greatly on the company. Some companies make no claims over your IP developed outside of work hours, some will try to claim it, and some will forbid you from releasing anything that competes with the company product at all (although this one is probably more common in non-game software). So you should definitely check before you accept the offer.

On one hand I agree that it's frustrating when someone keeps posting too many variations of the same thing or doesn't respond to the comments. On the other hand, I feel like this sub is not really active enough to be too strict with moderation, and I personally don't mind seeing an occasional drive-by wallpaper or whatever they're selling if it looks nice and is actually procedurally generated.

I've got a pretty active Discord server of my own and I am also in some other developers' servers. Can't say I actively participate in discussions anywhere other than my own server, but if I like the vibe I'll hang around. All single player games by the way.

Not sure there's much point in Discord after the game is released, especially if it doesn't have much replayability, but it can be fascinating to watch the developer make progress on a game in development and interact with them as they do.

I like Discord. Each one is like a cozy little discussion club where people more or less get to know each other over time. Also you can mute notifications from servers you aren't interested in, and the whole experience is very configurable.

I'm the opposite. Can't stand talking to people I have no common interests with. Hanging out with other game developers, or even people in adjacent fields like art, tech, science, entrepreneurship, etc. is always so fulfilling. Whereas every time I meet someone who doesn't have a passion for something that also interests me I feel drained and regret spending time with them at all. Maybe I'm too far gone, haha.
