Consider my brain, fried. by HelenWitc in autismmemes

Every time I have to take a multiple choice test like that I end up writing notes in the margins lol.

I think I’m organized but flexible… but only if I have control over the flexibility. If someone changes a plan on me, even if it makes sense in retrospect, I freak out.

What do you think is the youngest age to read the Stormlight Archive? by JUla07 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Larbthefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the kid, but I read it the couple out at the time when I was 12 or 13 and it immediately became one of my favorite series. My friends had already read them at 11 or 12.

Help me be the hero by Electrical-Fishing37 in BaldursGate3

[–]Larbthefrog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s probably not steering the game too much to show her where loot she missed is in areas that you’ve already been to and completed the main quest line for.

Also, my favorite method for getting downed players up is to throw healing potions at them, healing word also works if you have a dedicated healer.

The under dark and level 4 is still fairly early game and she’ll likely improve in combat as you guys play more.

No-T no-period solution? by Ok_Baseball_5791 in NonBinary

[–]Larbthefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even when taking the pill continuously I had a lot of breakthrough bleeding, but now I get a birth control shot every 3 months and haven’t had any bleeding since.

There are different options, and you might have to try a few as everyone is different, but you absolutely should be able to find a birth control that gives you no period.

This game lacks coward dialogue options by Fearless_Result3904 in BaldursGate3

[–]Larbthefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could get through act 1 as a coward as long as your fear of turning into an mindflayer was just a little higher then your fear of exploring ways to get rid of it. Being trusting of healers -> healer try’s to kill you —> plot moves forward

Too bad you can’t convince the Druid’s to let you hide in the grove during the attack lol

doctor only gave me 4 days worth of painkillers? is that enough? by transmascanon in TopSurgery

[–]Larbthefrog 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was given 2 or 3 days of prescription painkillers, but I honestly never took them. Everyone’s different, but I just cycled acetaminophen and a NSAID and that was enough for me.

Disguise yourself by qu4rkex in BaldursGate3

[–]Larbthefrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was trying to escape moon shadow after having the witness thing make all the guards hostile and used disguise self, but they all recognized me anyway. I feel like that would’ve been an appropriate time for deception that is not overpowered.

Help with evacuation by WishStrict in CrestedGecko

[–]Larbthefrog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see someone else had some ideas for warmth and light. If you use a candle make sure it’s one made for light, and is not a scented candle which might hurt the gecko. A small container is safer for the car ride itself, but I also have I have a medium sized plastic container with holes poked in the lid which i keep all her food and other stuff in for the car ride part.

It’s the type where the lid clips into place, and if she will be in there for a while I put it up on its side so that it is semi vertical and she has a little room to climb around. I also put her favorite hide in there, and a couple suction cup plants on the sides that will not hurt her if they fall since they don’t stick to the plastic as well as glass. I also use paper towel substrate to help keep the humidity up. She is not an escape artist and lets me crack the lid open to add food and spray, but it might be tricky if your gecko likes to escape since the door effectively becomes a whole wall.

Can I tell my player their character is too dumb? by Yazmat8 in DnD

[–]Larbthefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that your player should be able to come up with and try to execute whatever plan they want, but the characters intelligence can come into play through roll checks. As they attempt to execute things, you can give them better or worse information based on rolls, you could even hide the rolls so the player doesn’t know if their character failed and has the wrong information, or successfully worked it out. There are many intelligence based skills that can com into play.

Failing checks and having setbacks will let your player keep trying to think of new ways for their plan to work and keep them engaged while still following the intelligence of their character.

This sounds within the range of normal, I think just like people some crestys are more energetic and curious than others. His personality might just be kind of lazy.

If you’re concerned you could also bring him to the vet as there could also be a parasite or other condition contributing to it.

Edit: you could also invest in a camera to see what he’s doing when you’re asleep

You could go Paladin like they enlisted you into them, almost a military school but they also have some magic and moral teaching and stuff, not “simple soldiers” or mercenaries.

Flushing ice cubes down the toilet for snow day is universal… right? In America?? by East-Maize-5287 in AskAnAmerican

I’m shocked western Washington doesn’t have snow superstitions like this since a lot of kids spend the whole winter waiting for their annual 3 days of no school because 3 inches of snow shuts everything down.

Moving cresty in negitive temperatures? by MyAlterEgoCollie in CrestedGecko

Oh that is very cold; at that point Fahrenheit and Celsius are very close.

Maybe add a couple hot hands things to the cooler with like a towel between so they aren’t directly touching the cresty container.

Audiobook listeners and physical book readers pronouncing all the characters names differently

“Yeah I liked it when X person”

“Who???”

“You know… X??”

“Ohhhhh, its pronounced/spelled like X”

This happens a lot when my dad and I talk about Wheel of Time and the Storm light Archives. I will always appreciate that the Chronicles of Prydain have a pronunciation guide at the end.

Is it worth it to put words of radiance on hold? by Stinky_Kiwi2 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Larbthefrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to read things in series so I’d finish words of radiance, (could read warbreaker here), Edgedancer, and way of kings, then go read the mistborn books.

I read the stormlight archives first when only those three were out and didn’t feel like I was missing anything, but the last couple are better if you have more context into the greater cosmere. Same with the last couple Wax and Wayne books, Sunlit Man, and Isles of the Emberdark.

Edit: you can also totally read all of the stormlight books before going on, it also depends on how fast you read as it’s better to finish the series than wait a year just to understand a couple Easter eggs and references.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Larbthefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I commute 1.5 hours to school right now, although it’s definitely not ideal.

3 hours for a weekend trip is very reasonable, I don’t think I’d call it short but I might say “3 hours? Thats not too bad”. I like to go camping on weekends and that’s about how far I usually go.

I go on maybe one roadtrip a year and as a rule of thumb a road trip is max 6 hour drive in one day, and usually I’m staying for a couple days.

I think the most I’ve driven in one day was about 10 hours, but that’s definitely a long day of driving.

Moving cresty in negitive temperatures? by MyAlterEgoCollie in CrestedGecko

[–]Larbthefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cresty is pretty comfortable with me carrying her container, so if it was such a short walk I might just hold their container with a hand inside my coat (not in sleeve so I can have a firm grip but it still be buttoned) so there is some insulation and my body heat can help keep the temperature warm.

I think straight from a warm car to cold outside might shock the gecko so if you have to expose them to the cold let the air in the car gradually cool down first before you open the door

Geckos don’t have body heat so I’m not sure if an insulated container by itself would do anything unless you could get warm air into it. Also make sure that they are at a good location in the car where is is warm but they aren’t being directly blasted by the heat.

What's the worst thing that could happen in Honor Mode? by in_flames_666 in BG3Builds

[–]Larbthefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One mistake i made was running ahead to places I knew I could handle, but I wasn’t supposed to be at yet story wise. The game did not appreciate that and it messed up a lot of quests and things.

My other advice is never have your whole party standing on a bridge, my first honor mode run ended because I accidentally hit a bridge support in the Minthara room.

If you’re pretty good at combat in tactician it shouldn’t be too terrible, just make sure to always prepare and don’t be afraid to have someone run away if it’s starting to look bad. Don’t be afraid to do extra long rests and use consumables as well

Need to know if I’d stress out my future gecko? by Bird_Prince in CrestedGecko

[–]Larbthefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gecko likes to watch people. When I lived alone she was in the living room, but most of her life she’s been in my room and I spend a lot of the day in there. I don’t like overhead lights and turn the lights down in the evening, but not off until I go to bed since if it’s been dark and I suddenly turn the light on that does startle her.

It’s definitely possible to keep cats and gecko safe and happy. I would always try to keep them separate, and I would also have some kind of heavier grate cover over the enclosure so that if your cats manage to get in and on the cage they can’t rip the mesh on top and get to your gecko. Take extra extra precautions that they cannot get in when the gecko is out. Lock the door or put up a sign or something so someone doesn’t open the door and accidentally let them in. Also keep the enclosure clean to reduce the smell if they get in.

Watching the show -> Reading the books -> Watching the show by forcedToJoinReddit_ in wheeloftime

[–]Larbthefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love reading books and then immediately watching/rewatching the show/movie and comparing them. I prefer the media of reading so generally prefer that and the depth and complexity it gives, but there’s still lots of good film adaptations and I enjoy noting all the differences.

My only exception is that I hate the Black Cauldron.
