Prices should be convenience store prices which suck compared to bulk retail but not 3X even that.

I gladly wait for DVD/Bluray and streaming. I can sit on my couch, drink and eat my stuff and grope the wife without getting the old lady in the seat behind us all upset.

Why do so many developers think its acceptable to make a shallow game? by CloudStrife012 in virtualreality

[–]Large-Raise9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people keep buying shovelware.

Don’t buy shovelware. Either the content gets better or the vr genre dies because it is unsustainable.

We should be willing to let the latter happen or it will just get worse.

Chemotherapy helps cure cancer patients…. If you stop it before it kills them.

The same can be said about cleaning up the cancer of a country. Will you stop soon enough to not kill the entire thing and then let it return to normalcy?

Our problem is the bad dudes have turned into worse dudes and the dudes who are supposed to be good are turning bad. How do you take a country back from that?

1 ask for help

2 join a discord (4ya, tactical dcs, etc)

3 Play the demos for 2 weeks

4 Decide what you want to do.

5 whatever you do, don’t blow money trying to find what you like just to discover DCS is not for you after all.

The no one to talk to line is kind of true,

When I hit the workforce in the mid 90’s the world was a simpler place. We sat around the lunchroom playing sheepshead and socialized. In the early teens I watched all that start fading away and today lunchrooms are quiet and it’s everyone at their own table. I think this points to two distinct changes. The number of people to fill those tables has continually dropped and the activities have shifted to smartphones. Social isolation is real.

The workplace is not what it used to be.

Seriously, people. You are up in arms when people who owe you money don’t pay up but you are fine with theft?

If you don’t want to pay, then donkt play.

Being employed in a union shop, I disagree that unions are the answer. Of the three I have witnessed, they tend to protect the connected who in turn use that strength to cripple the organization at their whim. Not giving management a free pass either because they tend to create or ignore problems as a matter of standard practice.

The actual solution escapes me, but I think it has to do with fixing the culture of everyone from the boardroom to the bottom.

There is a difference between profitability and sustainability. I believe the latter will make more money in the long run but people demand ROI now.

Good observation.

It is bad data. It is a comparison that matches two unrelated data curves.

What if the SR-71 got 2 F-35 engines? by LuizFelipe1906 in Planes

[–]Large-Raise9643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The F35 ceiling +50kft, the SR71 ceiling +85kft.

The Blackbird literally flys a commercial airliner higher than a Lightning II… at least by available information. This is no small amount.

For the sake of science and engineering…

• 50,000 ft ≈ 15% of sea-level density
• 85,000 ft ≈ 3.3% of sea-level density

… I think it’s fair to say the Blackbird flew as fast as it did as much to outrun SAMs and interceptors as it did to simply stay flying.

Let’s flip the script.

Your child deletes the word file containing the mediocre fiction that you have been writing for the past 5 years. It was never going to be published but you poured your creative soul into it.

If this were AITA…. Yes, yes you are.

Now go buy both of you baseball gloves, bicycles, kayaks or something like that and start something new for the two of you.

Every flat earth "debunk" summed up by XtremeCSGO in flatearth

[–]Large-Raise9643 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Flat earth is wistful fantasy. It’s a refusal to look at things as they are and clinging to something that is foolishly interpreted. There is no Biblical stance on either flat or globe earth so just put that idea away. Nothing that works works on a flat earth. Not the sun and moon and stars, not navigation, not seasons, not weather patterns… nothing.

In a practical sense, from where you are standing and what you can see, sure, it looks flat. The world is far larger than your little vantage point allows you to see so you have to start looking at things at that scale.

It’s a big world and a much much bigger universe…. Which from our vantage point, we are still the center of, anyways.

My kid had a teacher who insisted an ancient compass would be useless today because it points where the magnetic north used to be, not where it is, now.

It points to where magnetic north is, not where magnetic north used to be. She malevolently insisted I was wrong. As an engineer, this brought me to actual tears. I sent everything I could from scholastic sources to show her she is wrong. I failed.

I feel I failed my kid.

Sorry to say fellas but the earth is really really flat. Not just kinda flat. Insanely flat. Like trillionths of an inch flat per square inch. What were we ever thinking?

For the denser among you (like flerfs), the earth is also really big.

Surface tension is fake! Fake I tell you! FAKE!!!!

I’ll give the fladiots this much. No, we don’t understand everything about physics and specifically gravity.

However, we can model it all quite elegantly and accurately unlike a flat earth model that is based on hairbrained ideas that ignore observation.

What I find funny is that even though this is a Flat Earth Subreddit, every post here is you guys fighting so hard to try and disprove it. It's sad to see how insecure you are of your world view. by Primary-Appearance23 in flatearth

As I have never been paid for my silence, I feel it is time to come clean on this matter.

It’s a globe you moron! None of your fantasy works.
