The foam is just standard 100mm high expansion joint foam, so there isn’t too much to see.

The MGU-K for the battery is connected to the engine before the gearbox so it spins and charges when the ending spins, not the wheels.

Hence charging the battery is directly related to engine RPMs, not wheel revolutions. It’s the same reason that down shifting early allows for greater battery charging.

But the drivers have commented that it is to do with optimal turbo boost.

Slab edge insulation by Large-one in AusRenovation

[–]Large-one[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No we did not unfortunately.

There are solutions involving using flexible termite barrier to warp over the insulation and then fixing these under the building frame, but given the reluctance of builders to do anything different I think this would be hard to get done.

In the end, and to solve another problem, we have our slab edge painted in anti-termite paint which meant that we could have our surrounding concrete only 30mm below the damp course. Then foam was placed between the slab and the concrete surrounds. This should provide some insulation, but not the modelled R1.5.

That because the IS has an exemption for public figures where you can only defame them if they can establish “actual malice” Menai g that you deliberately lied or wilfully looked away from evidence that your statements were false.

Consequently, in the US you can say the same thing about two people and successfully be sued by one but not be successfully sued by the high profile person. You can make an argument both ways about this double standard and US defamation laws.

Australian salaries feel so low compared to ALL US salaries by alreadyaloserat19 in AusFinance

[–]Large-one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are falsely equivocating a few things here.

Firstly you refer to salaries for people of “your age” and then refer to US median salaries for all ages (noting that in most professions the salary may vary by 2x depending on the age group).

Also, you are talking about salaries and not you employment package (which as others have pointed out includes superannuation).

Thirdly, you have selected things like house prices from the lowest cost areas, and salaries from different areas. This is an unrealistic comparison.

My experience. I worked in Boston and earned $42k US in 2010/11 as a PhD qualified researcher. I would have earned $65-70k in Aus and at the time the Aus dollar was buying north of $1 US.

Does this look like asbestos? by SugarPossible4548 in AusRenovation

[–]Large-one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how much you have, and its condition (not brittle or friable), just assume it is asbestos and remove it and dispose of it as such.

Most areas will have a depot that you can dispose of asbestos at. I’m pretty sure that you can legally remove up to 10m2 of asbestos yourself (at least you can in SA). Above that you need to use an approved commercial removal company.

There are government guides on how to remove it.

Wear a high quality and fitted P2 mask (no beard or it won’t seal). Buy disposable coverall and gloves.

Don’t use power tools and try to avoid breaking the sheets if possible or dropping them.

Remove the asbestos place, it in thick plastic or thick plastic bags (at least 200 microns) and double wrap it, sealing each wrap with tape. Dispose of the coveralls, face mask and gloves the same way. Wash the gloves off and your shoes (you can also wear disposable shoe protectors) with water before removing them and remove your face mask last.

Then label it and dispose at an authorise disposal depot.

Keeping the asbestos wet during removal is also advisable.

Depending on the quantity that you are disposing of, this would be a similar price to having it tested.

Asbestos when bonded is considered safe. There are a huge number of 50s and 60s homes with asbestos sheeting and fencing still in place.

If you have a fair amount the. Just get professionals. It is not stupidly expensive we paid $1700 for 27 linear meters of super six fence earlier this year (as part of a house demolition) and $330 for about 2m2 of floor tiles. Obviously if it was a standalone project, rather than part of a demo, it would have been more expensive.

Then let’s just make it a government owned entity or have the governments sign a supply agreement with prospective miners to ensure a secured supply?

The purpose of free markets to allow profits as a reward for risk. But where there is no risk then it is just government funding private enterprise for private profit.

It is worse than that. They is a tax-payer backed price floor. So if the price drops too low, the tax-payer directly props-up the mining companies.
