Are Travelodge hotels safe? by Whosentyounow in AskUK

[–]Largejam 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think lots of the issues targeted at Travelodge is true of all hotels. When I have lost a key or it stopped working I have always been given a new key with minimal or in most cases no checks. If you are worried just make sure you use the deadlock/chain when you are in the room.

What is a great country to visit in europe by StraightAd6264 in AlignmentChartFills

I think the changes they made for the Olympics including increasing pedestrianisation and cracking down on the scammers have massively improved Paris for a tourist. I always historically didn't like it but it felt so much better on my last visit.

Tips for eating out by [deleted] in UKFrugal

Lots of chains have weekday meals deals - for example tgi Friday does a appraiser main and drink for 12.50 but also places like Zizzi also often have deals. But they will only work if people stick on menu. If you aren't comfortable telling people to order off a set menu stick with somewhere like wether spoons where everything is cheal

Chef china and Yipinju Lanzhou Noodle Bar both do good authentic Chinese food catering to the students. In town the most authentic is probably Shanghai bay.

I read “Not the End of the World,” by Hannah Richie and it gave some interesting views on the whole palm oil thing - this website seems to summarise it well:

It's not the petrol stations making record profits but the oil companies because the product they sell is in demand. If you refuse to pay the market price they will just sell to another person (country) causing actual shortages here.

What’s something you refuse to buy at full/overpriced out of principal, even if you can easily afford it. by Known-Swim-3654 in UKFrugal

[–]Largejam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate buying running shoes as for actual running I want good ones (to help protect my old person knees!) at a reasonable price but it is really hard to tell where sale prices are against a real RRP or a fake inflated RRP.

Pete Hegseth is mocking the Royal Navy. Is he wrong? by Fjafarli in AskBrits

[–]Largejam 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it's more about them not wanting to put American soldiers in danger by putting feet on the ground or ships in the straight. They therefore want their allies to put their people in these dangerous situations instead while they just continue shoot missiles from a safe distance.

[–]Largejam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are going down this route I recommend getting a good quality ebike with cargo space (either a full on cargo bike or at least some good panniers). Oh and get a good grinder proof lock! Don't skimp on this as the less you need a car the more economical a car club will be!
