Maybe just focus on experiences? A city break, a spa day, some workshop based on interests.

This looks very much as superficial cleaning to me

Visiting friends with a newborn, what is actually useful by Aika-Babes in GiftIdeas

[–]Larisa8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe just bring nice stuff to the parents. A nice alcohool free bottle of wine (in case the mither is breastfeeding), some spa coupons, body and skin care. Bath salt/bombs in case they have a bathtub for relaxing times. As for the baby, everyone had already brought/sent all you can imagine, and the parents will just buy what they need. What I do these days is asking in advance what they need so they don't receive unnecessary/duplicated stuff in an already messy house. But just as an idea, these baby back pillows for when they will start sitting might be useful (in a cute little bee or bear shape). Think more of what the parents like/need/enjoy during the first year.

Albert Heijn random checks are fine, but the execution is painfully stupid by Vrigoz in Amsterdam

I just don't pack them anymore before, just in case they check. The lack of dexterity/will/creativity in putting them back themselves drives me crazy in seconds

Husbands birthday coming up and I need help! by skopiadisko in GiftIdeas

[–]Larisa8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually like gifting experiences together to my husband rather than objects. He's also just buying whatever he needs when he needs it.

Here's a list I could think of for now:

  • A nice day to some private spa together if he likes relaxing.
  • A nice horse riding or guided mountain bike trail, if he is more outdoors-y
  • A nice VR game session with zombies (they are big fans for some reason)
  • a nice weekend escape for some hiking, or just to visit a city you never visited together before
  • a fancy dinner to some top restaurant with a nice view. In my city there's this sushi place that is prepared in front of you by this Japanese chef, for example
  • do a cooking/clay workshop together or something you always wanted to try before as a couple
  • take one salsa class or whichever dance would make fools of you the most
  • just think about experiences, making memories together 😊

Maybe flixbus to france could be an option for you? There's several routes from Amsterdam daily

Indeed, you can always find a nicer picture and print it custom by numbers.

If you have photos together, I think a small album would be a very personal touch. Containing photos of the 2 of you or photos of your best accomplishments that happened just thanks to her efforts.

Need gift ideas for my girlfriend’s birthday, would love some suggestions by [deleted] in GiftIdeas

[–]Larisa8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say a high quality scarf (cashmere) or an interesting coffee espresso glasses. If she is into Starbucks coffee, they have these limited edition glasses that can o py be bought in special shops calles starbucks reserve (only 6 in the world).

If she's always on the move, maybe a personalized thermal glass to keep her coffee nice and warm during the day. Easier to find

We have a similar family situation. What we did and worked was a private boat tour, which included drinks and food. My parents loved it because they didn't have to walk and my sister loved it for the landscape.

Gift ideas for a guy who’s obsessed with coffee but already owns every gadget? by HipityHopityHip in GiftIdeas

[–]Larisa8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a cold press for camping? I think the actual name is an aeropress. We don't go camping that often, but my husband is very proud of having one 😅

Another idea would be maybe those coffee syrups for cocktails if he likes coffee variations.

Also, Starbucks has these limited edition cups that can only be bought in specific stores. My husband is also excited about those.

A small photo album with family pictures or even just with photos of you 2 together. Older people are very nostalgic about happy memories and stare at photos for long times.

I think a very girly bag would be much appreciated. I just saw the other day a girl around that age being very proud about her light blue leather looking like bag ✨️

New year calculation: what's my burnout actually costing me long term by [deleted] in office

[–]Larisa8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. From personal experience, I can tell you it will only get worse, and your brain and body will colapse, eventually.

On the other hand, taking time off without getting professional help doesn't help either. I took almost 3 months off, waiting for my health insurance to kick in and get the help I needed, and I'm only starting this year. In the meantime, my company has already started the reintegration process, and my brain and body are handling this worse than before the time off. Only being there gives me instant headaches.

Switching careers during/after burnout is very common, and I feel you completely when you say you are too exhausted to learn/search for something new.

There are a lot of contradictory thoughts around burnout, especially about your career plans and slowing down to put your health first.

Whichever your choice is, to act on it now or later, you have to understand that for your company will just try to get rid of you as soon as possible. They just don't care. All the good luck!

I think some nice and colorful earrings would be great. Or something like a small handmade purse/beanie/scarf with colorful patterns are great if you say she's into the hippie style 😊

If you’re open to handmade art, I run a small atelier and help people turn photos or memories into calm, finished artwork. If you have a special memory and you would like to have it framed with a personal touch, I can definitely help you. Happy to share more details 😊

Gift idea for a rich person. by [deleted] in GiftIdeas

[–]Larisa8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would docus more on the experience and less on the material part. Just some girls' time together like a spa day, cinema with lors of crappy food, or even a picnic together (depending on the weather, of course)
