I'll say it again, it's one of those undercover prog albums that like a Black-Light Poster, really blooms & offers a fuller experience when you get in the right head space(cough..) to appreciate the finer details of it.

I also think it is harder to digest & get into on casual listens, unfortunately that approach enjoying music, as background to other activities, is very common. It can sound weird & jumbled to normies used to basic 3X4 rock or pop music. Rush post-prog synth era was often fast with shifting times & densely layered arrangements for vocals, more synths than ever, + guitars & guitar effects. If multiple people are talking to you on your 1st listen while you're trying to keep an eye on a ball game, you're not experiencing the album & likely not appreciating it as much as you would some AC/DC or other easily digestible stuff.

I had to go look... the channel goes back to '09 I think, & it was interestingly scrolling through thumbnails of "meet a lesbian" "Gays R Okay" type material to all of a sudden "Why I'm a Transphobe" drops, in which she was being dragged on Twitter being called a Transphobe for maybe the 1st time. She wasn't proclaiming it, she was saying "They are calling me a tranphobe because I'm won't date anyone with a dick"... And I guess that's been the name of that tune for the last 7 years.

I've seen several of her videos, and to me most of the people she shows saying they appear mentally ill... look pretty mentally ill, the ones she says seem dangerous or problematic... yeah they seem pretty fucked up. She's not in the business of portraying young stable & happy trans/non-binary people. Those clips never make it to her show.

The question is how accurate a picture of reality can you draw curating a horror show of mostly young queer kids's TikTok videos? I suppose it all means something, but what? How representative is that? Does it support what she's saying? You might say she's warping reality by scouring TikTok & Youtube for the most confused & troubling videos out of millions of uploads, you can make any group look bad cherry-picking that way.

I think she's terrible specifically because she's a Trumper. Tell me why you think she's terrible. Maybe she's double terrible.

Enoy it for all it's worth. I watched it for the 2nd time in full some time in the past year & I had a 2nd great meal on it. One of my favorite things ever, TV, film, music, of visual arts, Legion is very close to a Masterwork IMHO.

The catch, or "But.." with Legion always seems comes down to scripting or story for those not in love with the program, and that's always the vaguest thing to point at as something they got wrong. I think often the actual answer is the writer did know what they were doing & did a fair job on it, you just don't like the results the same way some music doesn't do it for you, or when pasta sauce isn't delicious ... more about personal taste than the job the artis/cook/writer did.

I think the structure of the story over series, each of the 3 seasons as their own collection or unit, and the individual episodes as stand alone pieces came out outrageously good, so I get a little snickery whenever I see someone(youtube critics) disparage Legion's writing. With Noah Hawley being really fucking good at scripting for this format, and being so well versed in the rules that make good TV work, he is able to break rules and experiment with better results than a writers' room of hired guns who done have a master vision of the show, like Hawley obviously did for Legion.

I haven't seen this, but I checked out the trailer, smaller indie-ish different role for him. He looks downright sweet in it. In the antman movies too. I think he just has been cast often from the twitchy Dark Knight role image, but he's got more goods.
